Identifying Rossby wave trains and quantifying their properties

A novel method is introduced to automatically identify upper-level Rossby wave trains and to objectively diagnose their properties. Based on the envelope of the upper tropospheric meridional wind represented in a Hovmoller diagram, the algorithm identifies individual Rossby wave trains as objects. These depend to some extent on user defined parameters. The utility of the method is demonstrated in two areas of application. First, the skill of a particular numerical weather prediction model is analysed for a specific case of a long-lived Rossby wave train. In recent years, the main advances in strawberry cultivation in Italy have regarded cultivation techniques, the use of alternatives to methyl bromide and the type of propagation material used. Fresh plants have taken over from cold-stored plants in 60% of cases. This prompted the need for new studies on the cultivation of fresh strawberry plants carried out in Sicilian nurseries. [CA] El present article es centra en la vinculació entre els diversos exemplars de Crist portacreu de Gianfrancesco Maineri i els homònims de Paolo da San Leocadio. A través de diverses comparacions, tractarà d¿explicar-se la gènesi d¿aquest model, aportant, a més, dades que permetran una millor classificació dels exemplars leocadians. Finalment, es realitzen una sèrie de reflexions entorn de l¿hipotètic retorn de San Leocadio a Itàlia (1485-1489) i a la seua possible vinculació amb Maineri.

In the medieval cemetery of the Historic Site of San Juan del Hospital of Valencia is housed a small funeral chapel founded in the late thirteenth century by the knight Arnau de Romaní. Along its cornice there are a series of heads of animals and humans that are one of the few sculptural vestiges inserted into the Romanesque iconographic tradition that are preserved in the city. So far they have not aroused the interest of specialists and no one has dedicated a detailed study to these curious and interesting images located in the marginal spaces of such a beautiful building.
