A smart and operator independent system to delineate tumours in Positron Emission Tomography scans

Abstract Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging has an enormous potential to improve radiation therapy treatment planning offering complementary functional information with respect to other anatomical imaging approaches. The aim of this study is to develop an operator independent, reliable, and clinically feasible system for biological tumour volume delineation from PET images. Under this design hypothesis, we combine several known approaches in an original way to deploy a system with a high level of automation. Design and Low-Cost Implementation of an Optimally Robust Reduced-Order Rotor Flux Observer for Induction Motor Control

The aim of this paper is to design and analyze reduced-order observers of the rotor flux of induction motors. The design is carried out in two steps. In the first step, a boundary of the stability region of the observation error is obtained corresponding to a chosen Lyapunov function. In the second step, the boundary is translated into a performance index that is minimized with respect to stator and rotor resistance variations and differences of voltages supplying the motor and those supplying the observer in order to obtain the largest stability region. Observer-based H∞ control on stochastic nonlinear systems with time-delay and actuator nonlinearity

Abstract In this paper, an observer-based H ∞ controller is designed for a class of extended Markov jump systems subject to time-delay and actuator saturation nonlinearity. Gradient linearization procedure is employed to describe such nonlinear systems by several linear Markov jump systems. Next, a mode-dependent Lyapunov function is constructed for these linear systems, and a sufficient condition is derived to make them stochastically stable, and then, a continuous gain-scheduled approach is applied to design a continuous nonlinear observer-based controller on the entire extended nonlinear jump system. A simulation example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of developed techniques.

A nonlinear observer for rotor flux estimation considering magnetic saturation effects in induction motor drives

This paper proposes a non-linear observer for In- duction Machine (IM) drives which takes into consideration the saturation effects. The non-linear observer is based on an original formulation of the dynamic model of the IM taking into consideration the magnetic saturation of the iron core. A Lyapunov based convergence analysis is proposed in order to suitably compute the observer gain guaranteeing the stability of the observer. Linear flux observers for induction motors with quadratic Lyapunov certificates

International audience; We propose a full order Linear Time-Varying (LTV) Luenberger observer for the rotor flux estimation of an induction motor. Introducing a suitable reduced-order Linear-Time-Invariant (LTI) system that is always observable and controllable, we show that any arbitrary LTI design and its quadratic Lyapunov certificates can be lifted to the higher-order original LTV dynamics obtaining the same certificates. As a result, we show that arbitrary global uniform exponential bounds can be imposed on the estimation error, regardless of the rotor speed. Control of uncertain highly nonlinear biological process based on Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy models

This note deals with the control of uncertain highly nonlinear biological processes. Indeed, an adaptive fuzzy control (AFC) scheme is developed for the pre-treatment of wastewater represented by a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model. The proposed approach uses a fuzzy system to approximate the unknown substrate consumption rate in designing the adaptive controller, and then an observer is designed to estimate the concentration in substrate at the outlet bioreactor. Observer-based adaptive stabilization of a class of uncertain nonlinear systems

In this paper, an adaptive output feedback stabilization method for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems is presented. Since this approach does not require any information about the bound of uncertainties, this information is not needed a priori and a mechanism for its estimation is exploited. The adaptation law is obtained using the Lyapunov direct method. Since all the states are not measurable, an observer is designed to estimate unmeasurable states for stabilization. Adaptive Neural Stabilizing Controller for a Class of Mismatched Uncertain Nonlinear Systems by State and Output Feedback

In this paper, first, an adaptive neural network (NN) state-feedback controller for a class of nonlinear systems with mismatched uncertainties is proposed. By using a radial basis function NN (RBFNN), a bound of unknown nonlinear functions is approximated so that no information about the upper bound of mismatched uncertainties is required.
