Appunti sul lending-based crowdfunding nel Reg. UE 2020/1503
2022
Lending-based crowdfunding (LBC), in the large and tumultuous galaxy of crowdfunding, is the least fully disciplined and maybe the most problematic sector. Regulation n. 2020/1503 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 October 2020, on European providers of crowdfunding services for businesses, gives now a definition and significantly detailed discipline of the LBC, alongside the more widely known and regulated figure of investment-based crowdfunding (IBC). The essay takes some notes on this new text, also in view of the task of national Legislators and Authorities of introducing a domestic discipline on the LBC, consistent with the new framework of harmonization at EU level.
When Customer base is not loyalty! : Differences in the Consumers' Appraisal of Performance of Mobile Telecommunications Service Providers in Port Ha…
2017
Reports from both local and international telecommunications agencies attest that Nigerian telecommunications industry is the fastest growing in Africa and one of the fastest growing in the world. Currently, the sector boasts of about 157 million active subscribers being serviced by four dominant operators. However, there have been strident calls by consumers to the regulatory agencies to apply sanctions to the operators as a result of persistent poor quality of service. As a matter of fact, all the service providers do not deliver uniform level of service. This study is therefore aimed at examining the differences in the consumers’ appraisal of the quality of service and offerings of the s…
Satisfaction and loyalty in B2B relationships in the freight forwarding industry: adding perceived value and service quality into equation
2018
This paper focuses on analysing the determinants of satisfaction (service quality, perceived value), as well as its possible influence on customer loyalty of freight forwarders to freight transport service providers (by road/maritime/air) in Spain. To this end, we propose a causal model tested using information from 205 freight forwarders collected through personal interviews. The model was estimated using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. Moreover, the existence of differences in the perceptions on the analysed variables between transport modes is tested through ANOVA. Results show that service quality has an influence on customer satisfaction, both directly, as well as through per…
Energy efficient resource allocation in heterogeneous software defined network: A reverse combinatorial auction approach
2015
In this paper, resource allocation for energy effi- ciency in heterogeneous Software Defined Network (SDN) with multiple network service providers (NSPs) is studied. The considered problem is modeled as a reverse combinatorial auction game, which takes different quality of service (QoS) requirements into account. The heterogeneous network selection associated with power allocation problem is optimized by maximizing the energy efficiency of data transmission. By exploiting the properties of fractional programming, the resulting non-convex Winner Determination Problem (WDP) is transformed into an equivalent subtractive convex optimization problem. The proposed reverse combinatorial auction ga…
How do online communities matter? Comparison between active and non-active participants in an online behavioral weight loss program
2016
This paper contributes to the discussion on the potential of different social media platforms in health behavior change programs. More specifically, it compares the outcomes of participation in different online community platforms in an online behavioral weight loss program. Results show that active participants on online community platforms perceive their service experience more positively, follow instructions more precisely, have a more positive perception of achieving their goals, and also feel that they receive more social support than do those who do not actively participate in online community channels, although no differences were found related to weight loss itself. Furthermore, int…
Äitien palvelutyytyväisyyden rakentuminen ja yhteistyökokemukset varhaiskasvatuksessa
2021
Artikkelissa tutkitaan äitien tyytyväisyyttä noin yksivuotiaan lapsensa varhaiskasvatuspalveluun tarkastelemalla palvelutyytyväisyyden ulottuvuuksia. Lisäksi tutkitaan äitien ja varhaiskasvatuksen henkilökunnan välisen yhteistyön sekä palveluntarjoajan (yksityinen vs. kunnallinen) yhteyttä äitien palvelutyytyväisyyteen. Lopuksi tarkastellaan, eroaako yhteistyön yhteys palvelutyytyväisyyteen palveluntarjoajan mukaan. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu CHILDCARE-hankkeen kyselytutkimukseen osallistuneiden varhaiskasvatuksessa olevien yksivuotiaiden äitien vastauksista (N = 549). Analyysimenetelminä käytettiin eksploratiivista faktorianalyysia sekä hierarkkista lineaarista regressioanalyysiä. Äitien tyy…
Opaque Distribution Channels for Competing Service Providers: Posted Price vs. Name-Your-Own-Price Mechanisms
2014
Opaque selling has been widely adopted by service providers in the travel industry to sell off leftover capacity under stochastic demand. We consider a two-stage model to study the impact of different selling mechanisms, posted price (PP) versus name-your-own-price (NYOP), of an opaque reseller on competing service providers who face forward-looking customers. We find that in this environment, providers prefer that the opaque reseller uses a posted price instead of a bidding model. This is because the ability to set retail prices is critical for extracting surplus from customers who wait to purchase from the reseller. Such surplus extraction enables providers to set high prices for advance…
2016
Web payments have created a whole industry around them in the last decade where sensitive data is moved around and where security is one of the key concepts. On top of internal facilities, members of the EU are regulated by EU directives of which the second will be taken to legislation by the start of year 2017. It forces the banks to open interfaces that allow third parties to use web shop customers banking credentials in order to initiate payments. Second directive on payment services brings up a set of web security hazards that have yet to be studied. In this thesis a literature review is made on web payment security. I will also study the second directive on payment services and its eff…
