Water quality in forests small retention reservoirs in southern Poland
2018
W pracy przedstawiono analizę jakości wód z terenów trzech nowopowstałych zbiorników małej retencji leśnej (Rudziczka, Niemysłowice I, zbiornik Paciorkowy) zlokalizowanych na terenie Nadleśnictwa Prudnik, w województwie opolskim (południowa Polska). Głównymi funkcjami zbiorników są retencja wody, ochrona przeciwpowodziowa i przeciwpożarowa, funkcje rekreacyjna i ekologiczna. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań wykonanych w grudniu 2014 i w maju 2015 roku. Oceny jakości wód dokonano zgodnie z obowiązującymi przepisami w sprawie oceny jakości wód. Ponadto przedstawiono ocenę eutrofizacji wód oraz walory użytkowe wody zbiorników (analiza przydatności badanej wody do bytowania ryb). Badania wyka…
Resurgent uplift at large calderas and relationship to caldera-forming faults and the magma reservoir: New insights from the Neapolitan Yellow Tuff c…
2021
Abstract Resurgence uplift is the rising of the caldera floor, mainly due to pressure or volume changes in the magma reservoir. Identifying resurgence structures and understanding their relationship to the magmatic reservoir is challenging. We investigate the resurgence structures of the Neapolitan Yellow Tuff caldera (Italy) by integrating bathymetric data, high-resolution seismic profiles and Differential Synthetic-Aperture Radar Interferometry data. Our results show that the resurgent area is manifested as 1) a central dome constituted by two main blocks bounded by NNE-SSW trending faults, 2) an apical graben developed on top of the most uplifted block, 3) a peripheral zone including sev…
Deformation and fluid flow in the Huab Basin and Etendeka Plateau, NW Namibia
2016
Abstract The Lower Cretaceous Twyfelfontein sandstone formation in the Huab Basin in NW Namibia shows the effects of volcanic activity on a potential reservoir rock. The formation was covered by the Parana-Etendeka Large Igneous Province shortly before or during the onset of South-Atlantic rifting. Deformation bands found in the sandstone trend mostly parallel to the continental passive margin and must have formed during the extrusion of the overlying volcanic rocks, indicating that their formation is related to South-Atlantic rifting. 2D-image porosity analysis of deformation bands reveals significant porosity reduction from host rock to band of up to 70%. Cementation of the sandstone, lin…
Rare and threatened pondweed communities in anthropogenic water bodies of Opole Silesia (SW Poland)
2011
The paper presents results of geobotanic studies conducted in anthropogenic water bodies like excavation ponds, fish culture ponds, other ponds, dam reservoirs, ditches, channels and recreational pools incl. watering places in Opole Silesia and surroundings in the years 2002-2005. The research focused on occurrence of threatened and rare pondweed communities. As the result of the investigations of several dozen of water bodies, 28 localities of rare pondweed communities were documented by 75 phytosociological relevés. Associations of Potametum trichoidis J. et R Tx. in R. Tx. 1965, Potametum praelongi Sauer 1937, P. alpini Br.-B…
Use of algae in active biomonitoring of Surface waters
2014
Przeprowadzono badania biomonitoringowe trzech zbiorników retencyjnych położonych na terenie województwa opolskiego (południowa Polska): Zbiornika Turawa, Zbiornika Nysa i Zbiornika Otmuchów. W glonach słodkowodnych Spirogyra sp. i morskich Palmaria palmata (Linnaeus) Weber & Mohr, eksponowanych w badanych wodach, oznaczono metodą absorpcyjnej spektrometrii atomowej (AAS) przyrosty stężeń: Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Cd i Pb.
Rodent host population dynamics drive zoonotic Lyme Borreliosis and Orthohantavirus infections in humans in Northern Europe
2021
Zoonotic diseases, caused by pathogens transmitted between other vertebrate animals and humans, pose a major risk to human health. Rodents are important reservoir hosts for many zoonotic pathogens, and rodent population dynamics affect the infection dynamics of rodent-borne diseases, such as diseases caused by hantaviruses. However, the role of rodent population dynamics in determining the infection dynamics of rodent-associated tick-borne diseases, such as Lyme borreliosis (LB), caused by Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato bacteria, have gained limited attention in Northern Europe, despite the multiannual abundance fluctuations, the so-called vole cycles, that characterise rodent population d…
Interaction between the endangered freshwater pearl mussel Margaritifera margaritifera, the duck mussel Anodonta anatina and the fish host (Salmo) : …
2018
The common duck mussel Anodonta anatina can live in sympatry with—and use the same host, brown trout (Salmo trutta)—as the endangered freshwater pearl mussel Margaritifera margaritifera. Since the glochidia release of A. anatina takes place seasonally earlier than that of M. margaritifera, brown trout can be sequentially exposed first to A. anatina and then to M. margaritifera. Cross-immunity, an immune reaction induced in fish host against glochidia after the infection with glochidia of another mussel species, is possible. Thus, it was studied experimentally if brown trout can be cross immunized against M. margaritifera by earlier infection with A. anatina. In addition, the hypothesis that…

Kulttuuriperintökokoelmien suojelu, evakuointi ja jälkihoito onnettomuustilanteissa
2010
Museologian Pro gradussa tutkittiin kulttuuriperintökokoelmien pelastussuunnitelmien toimivuutta kohteisiin sijoitetun irtaimen kulttuuriperinnön suojelu-, evakuointi- ja jälkihoitoprosessien näkökulmasta katsottuna. Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan kuuden tutkimuksen otokseen satunnaisotannalla valitun onnettomuuskohteen kulttuuriperintökokoelmien suojelua, evakuointia sekä onnettomuuden jälkihoitoa kokoelmavaurioiden minimoinnin ja ennaltaehkäisevän konservoinnin näkökulmasta. Pro gradu sijoittuu museografian, kokoelmaturvallisuuden ja ennaltaehkäisevän konservoinnin tutkimusalueille. Pro gradu -tutkielma toteutettiin tapaustutkimuksena. Tutkimukseen valittujen kohteiden onnettomuustyypit ja pe…
