Historically deviant conducts like homosexuality and prostitution gave rise to a social actor which has to convert his resources into money. Social scripts of male sex worker are very different from the female ones, just considering the way of introducing the professionist or also considering the way of having the sexual intercourse. The aim of this paper is to show through an international literature review how male sex working has changed from a historical/sociological point of view. Antibodies to human herpes virus type 8 (HHV8) in general population and in individuals at risk for sexually transmitted diseases in Western Sicily.

Human herpes virus 8 (HHV8) appears to be the primary aetiologic agent of Kaposi sarcoma (KS). To study the distribution of HHV8, a seroepidemiological study was carried out in western Sicily, where a high incidence rate of classical KS is well documented.A total of 970 sera of healthy human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) negative individuals of general population (1-70 years old) and 742 sera of individuals in different risk groups for HIV infection were evaluated by means of an indirect immunofluorescence assay able to detect antibodies to lytic and latent HHV8 antigens.Crude seroprevalence to HHV8 antigens was 11.5% in the general population, and it increased significantly with age from 6%…

Even though the actors involved are men, and previous studies have highlighted the importance of masculinity not only in the relation man-to-woman but also in the “gay world”, there is a lack of attention in male sex working. Drug-Using Sex Workers in the Streets of Valencia

Abstract In order to characterize factors that affect sex work and their influence on risk practices, this ethnographic study carried out in a barrio in Valencia describes female sex workers who use illegal drugs, some who inject drugs and some who do not. A study conducted ten years earlier had shown that women in this setting who injected drugs had more irregular work habits, were less selective about their clientele, took more risks of HIV infection, and lowered their prices and lengthened their working hours when compared to women who did not inject drugs. Appare interessante, per concludere questa sezione, considerare come il sex work possa muoversi oltre che sui confini tra gli orientamenti sessuali anche su quanto definisco linea etno-sessuale del sex working. Nei paesi meta di turismo sessuale i rapporti tra i generi e la definizione identitaria assume caratteristiche precise che si riflettono sulla struttura e sulla organizzazione del sex work maschile.
