Monte Carlo calculation of dose rate distributions around 0.5 and 0.6 mm in diameter 192Ir wires

Monte Carlo simulations of absolute dose rate in liquid water are presented in the form of away-along tables for 1 and 5 cm 192 Ir wires of 0.5 and 0.6 mm diameter. Simulated absolute dose rate values can be used as benchmark data to verify the calculation results of treatment planning systems or directly as input data for treatment planning. Best fit value of an attenuation coefficient suitable for use in Sievert integral-type calculations has been derived based on Monte Carlo simulation results. For the treatment planning systems that are based on the TG43 formalism we have also computed the required dosimetry parameters.

A monte carlo study of dose rate distribution around the specially asymmetric CSM3-a 137Cs source.

The CSM3 137Cs type stainless-steel encapsulated source is widely used in manually afterloaded low dose rate brachytherapy. A specially asymmetric source, CSM3-a, has been designed by CIS Bio International (France) substituting the eyelet side seed with an inactive material in the CSM3 source. This modification has been done in order to allow a uniform dose level over the upper vaginal surface when this `linear' source is inserted at the top of the dome vaginal applicators. Fractal photon sieve

2006

A novel focusing structure with fractal properties is presented. It is a photon sieve in which the pinholes are appropriately distributed over the zones of a fractal zone plate. The focusing properties of the fractal photon sieve are analyzed. The good performance of our proposal is demonstrated experimentally with a series of images obtained under white light illumination. It is shown that compared with a conventional photon sieve, the fractal photon sieve exhibits an extended depth of field and a reduced chromatic aberration.

Highly ordered mesoporous silicas such as, mobile composition of matter, MCM-41, MCM-48, and the SBA-types of materials have helped to a large extent to understand the formation mechanisms of the pore structure of adsorbents and to improve the methods of pore structural characterization. The synthesis of zeolite membranes and thin films using the secondary growth process is briefly described. In this process colloidal zeolite particles (sols) are prepared hydrothermally and then subsequently deposited on substrates to produce uniform layers of controlled thickness. In order to optimise this process, an understanding of the nature of the sols and an insight into the structure of the consolidated layer so formed, is required. The purpose of this article was to study the influence of degree of milling whole wheat (was ground in 4 variants of grain) and husked millet (was finely ground) to obtain fermented mashes type Braga. There have been 4 mashes of grist of whole wheat, grist husked millet, hop pellets and water and were boiled under continuous stirring and then cooled. Isomerization and disproportionation of m-xylene in a zeolite with 9- and 10-membered ring pores: Molecular dynamics and catalytic studies

The unique pore topology of zeolite ITQ-13 with 9-membered ring (MR) channels intersected by perpendicular 10-MR channels and larger void space with 10-MR cross-sections was studied for meta-xylene isomerization and disproportionation. Product distribution was interpreted on the basis of pore topology and compared with zeolites with 12-MR (β), 10-MR, and intersecting 12-MR cavities (NU-87), as well as 10-MR (ZSM-5) zeolites. The presence of cavities allows more space for bulky intermediates and/or products and also provides room for molecules to drive consecutive reactions toward thermodynamic equilibrium. Decalin and Tetralin as Probe Molecules for Cracking and Hydrotreating the Light Cycle Oil

Abstract Cracking of tetralin and decalin was carried out over several zeolites to establish the effect of the pore topology of the catalyst on product distribution. These molecules were chosen as probe molecules, because they indicate which catalyst is the best for cracking or hydrotreating the light cycle oil (LCO) fraction, which is obtained directly from fluid catalytic cracking units.
