Productive Efficiency of Decanters with Short and Variable Dynamic Pressure Cones

Abstract This paper presents the results of experimental trials carried out on third-generation, variable dynamic pressure cone decanters to assess machine performance and adjust the process parameters for optimum extraction yield. The results obtained led to the following conclusions: the regulation of the differential velocity screw/bowl allows a better performance of the decanter at low dilutions of the olive paste; it is possible to obtain high efficiency at a low dilution of the olive paste achieving a higher minor compounds content and the more advanced system of regulation leads to better results according to the variations of the ratio between liquid and solid phases, thus optimisin…

Profit vs morality: how unfair is labor market discrimination? Results from a survey experiment

Using an original survey-experimental protocol, we study the normative acceptability of the trade-off between immoral profit (discrimination) and costly morality (non-discrimination). We test the causal influence of three factors: i) the origin of discrimination, ii) the steepness of the morality/profit trade-off and iii) anti-discriminatory moral injunctions. Contrasting with past experimental and attitudinal studies, we find that a significant minority of respondents believe that labor market discrimination is acceptable when morality results in profit loss. Cette contribution montre que, si les lycéennes évoquent l’existence de représentations stéréotypées particulièrement présentes parmi leurs camarades (masculins en particulier) et plus encore parmi les médias (internet, réseaux sociaux et télévision), la formation (ou pas) d’un projet d’orientation en STAPS ne semble pas en premier lieu influencée par une représentation particulièrement masculine de la formation en STAPS et des métiers qui lui sont associés.
