Diffusion effects in a nonlinear electrical lattice
1998
International audience; We consider a nonlinear electrical network modeling the generalized Nagumo equation. Focusing on the particular case where the initial load of the lattice consists in the superimposition of a coherent information weakly varying in space and a perturbation of small amplitude, we show that the perturbation can be eliminated quickly, almost without disturbing the information.
An FPGA-based design for real-time Super Resolution Reconstruction
2018
Since several decades, the camera spatial resolution is gradually increasing with the CMOS technology evolution. The image sensors provide more and more pixels, generating new constraints for the suitable optics. As an alternative, promising solutions propose Super Resolution (SR) image reconstruction to extend the image size without modifying the sensor architecture. Convincing state-of art studies demonstrate that these methods could even be implemented in real-time. Nevertheless, artifacts can be observed in highly textured areas of the image. In this paper, we propose a Local Adaptive Spatial Super Resolution (LASSR) method to fix this limitation. A real-time texture analysis is include…
3D chain interactive
2014
With constant evolution of technology, 3D scanners are providing more and more data with ever greater precision. However, the substantial increase of the data size is problematic. Files become very heavy and can cause problems in data transmission or data storage. Therefore, most of the time, the data obtained by the 3d scanners will be analyzed, processed and simplify; this is called 3D acquisition chain. This manuscript presents an approach which digitize objects dynamically by adapting point density during the acquisition depending on the object complexity, without informations on object shape. This system allows to avoid the use of the classic 3D chain. This system do not calculate a den…
Computer-Aided Diagnosis for Prostate Cancer using Multi-Parametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging
2016
Prostate cancer (CaP) is the second most diagnosed cancer in men all over the world.CaP growth is characterized by two main types of evolution: (i) the slow-growing tumours progress slowly and usually remain confined to the prostate gland; (ii) the fast-growing tumours metastasize from prostate gland to other organs, which might lead to incurable diseases. Therefore, early diagnosis and risk assessment play major roles in patient treatment and follow-up.In the last decades, new imaging techniques based on Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) have been developed improving diagnosis. In practise, diagnosis can be affected by multiple factors such as observer variability and visibility and complexit…
Apparence des matériaux, Vision artificielle, Inspection qualité, Reflectance Transformation Imaging
2022
Mastering the visual perception of the surfaces of manufactured products is a central issue for industry. However, in industry, the quality of surfaces is often assessed by human inspectors. Only a few specific cases use an instrumental or photometric approach. Among the photometric approaches, one of them is experiencing significant growth: Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI). However, this technique has limitations in terms of data acquisition and processing. The objective is therefore to correct some of these limitations in order to improve the RTI and, consequently, the visual quality control of surface conditions in industry. The current RTI systems are limited and cannot meet our …
Automatic recognition of tree species from 3D point clouds of forest plots
2014
The objective of the thesis is the automatic recognition of tree species from Terrestrial LiDAR data. This information is essential for forest inventory. As an answer, we propose different recognition methods based on the 3D geometric texture of the bark. These methods use the following processing steps: a preprocessing step, a segmentation step, a feature extraction step and a final classification step. They are based on the 3D data or on depth images built from 3D point clouds of tree trunks using a reference surface. We have investigated and tested several segmentation approaches on depth images representing the geometric texture of the bark. These approaches have the disadvantages of over…
Image-based detection and classification of allergenic pollen
2015
The correct classification of airborne pollen is relevant for medical treatment of allergies, and the regular manual process is costly and time consuming. An automatic processing would increase considerably the potential of pollen counting. Modern computer vision techniques enable the detection of discriminant pollen characteristics. In this thesis, a set of relevant image-based features for the recognition of top allergenic pollen taxa is proposed and analyzed. The foundation of our proposal is the evaluation of groups of features that can properly describe pollen in terms of shape, texture, size and apertures. The features are extracted on typical brightfield microscope images that enable…
On Analytical vs . Schizophrenic Procedures for Computing Music
2009
The authors present a perspective on computer music, which is based on some particular definitions of music in relation to oral culture and cybernetics. They describe some experiments with different models of neural architectures which generate original music, and then suggest that if such neural systems are rich, effective and intuitive enough to produce ‘live’ music, the understanding of their behaviour may require the development of some ‘schizophrenic’ procedures, as well as analytical ones.
Characterization of Radio Frequency Echo using frequency sweeping and power analysis
2014
International audience; Coupling between repeater's antennas, called Radio Frequency Echo (RFE) deteriorates signal quality and compromises system stability. If the channel insulation is insufficient, the power in the closed-loop raises with time according to the gain margin value. Multiple methods of echo cancellation exists. Generally, these techniques are based on correlation calculation and adaptive filtering. However, their efficiency and algorithm's convergence speed are calling into question under signal's modulation and real-time constraints, specially with narrow band signals having frequency hopping as GSM or TETRA. This paper describes a real time method of RFE detection and esti…
Simulation d’un Affichage Tête Haute - Réalité Augmentée pour l’aide visuelle à la conduite automobile
2016
Head-Up Display is the emerging solution for visual aid while driving a car, especially during reduced visibility conditions, such as bad weather or when the road is poorly lighted. The HUD device allows to project virtual information in the central field of view of the driving scene, enabling the driver to keep his attention on the road. The visual perception of the driver is therefore augmented, with a coexistence between the real and virtual world. However, it is necessary to ensure an optimal setting in order to guarantee the good perception of the virtual information, and allow drivers to take appropriate actions at the right moment. This thesis project is dedicated to study three impo…
