Arrhythmia due to mild therapeutic hypothermia - a study in vitro

2013

International audience; Introduction: In case of resuscitation after CA, the brain suffers the ischemia and the inflammation from reperfusion. To days, the only therapy available is the mild therapeutic hypothermia (MTH) : put the patient under 34°C-32°C during 12-24 hours. MTH has been shown to increase the hospital survival rate, but it has many adverse effects, among which the cardiac arrhythmia generation represents an important part (up to 34%). Cardiac culture in vitro provides a better spatial resolution than study in vivo, which could bring some insights of the mechanism of post-hypothermia arrhythmia generation. Method: Monolayer cardiac culture is prepared with cardiomyocytes from…

An open system to generate hyperspectral cubes for skin optical reflectance analysis

2010

International audience; Optical visible light analysis of the skin mainly relies on RGB colour imaging. Multispectral imaging of human skin represents a more accurate approach for in vivo analysis of its optical properties. Few dermatology-oriented multispectral devices have been hitherto developed. Their diagnostic abilities for pigmentary tumors or other clinical applications are still being evaluated [1]. We have developed a multispectral imaging system for in-vivo skin optical analysis. It is based on a charge-coupled device camera, a rotating wheel with a set of seven interference filters and a computer. All interference filters were chosen specifically to cover the visible spectrum ra…

Evaluation de l'outil SynDEx en vue de prototypage rapide d'applications de traitement d'images sur machine MIMD-DM

1997

International audience; The goal of this paper is to evaluate the SynDEx system-level CAD tool in order to estimate its usefulness for fast prototyping of image processing applications on a MIMD-DM architecture. This software can assist the programmer during the implementation of image processing applications in his constrained search for an efficient matching between algorithm and architecture. Two main conclusions were drawn from this work. First, the implementation of a connected component labeling algorithm on a multi-transputer architecture allowed us to quantify the gap between the estimated performances predicted by SynDEx and the effective performances measured on the generated exec…

Experimental study of arrhythmia due to mild therapeutic hypothermia after resuscitation of cardiac arrest

2013

International audience; Introduction: One of the important challenges after cardiac arrest (CA) is the neurological damage of the brain. In case of resuscitation after CA, the brain suffers the ischemia and the inflammation from reperfusion. To days, the only therapy available is the mild therapeutic hypothermia (MTH) : put the patient under 34°C-32°C during 12-24 hours. Even though that MTH has been shown to increase the hospital survival rate, it has many adverse effects, among which the cardiac arrhythmia generation represents an important part (up to 34%). Cardiac culture in vitro provides a better spatial resolution (to cellular level) than study in vivo, which could bring some insight…

Multi-pixel Geiger mode imager for medical applications

2012

International audience; Nowadays, there are two types of sensors to detect the low luminous flux, PMT (Photomultiplier Tube) and Geiger-APD (Geiger Avalanche Photodiode). The domain of Geiger-APD has reached an advanced development in the last years. The basic idea of this structure consists in polarizing an APD in Geiger-mode by applying a voltage beyond its breakdown voltage. In this case of polarization, the APD is working in a special mode and is able to detect the single photon. The theory of detection of single photon using this detector has been invented in the beginning of 90's and developed for detection of low light intensity. By using this kind of photodiode in the Geiger-mode, w…
