An Application of Spike-Timing-Dependent Plasticity to Readout Circuit for Liquid State Machine

Liquid state machine (LSM) is a neural system based on spiking neurons that implements a mapping between functions of time. A typical application of LSM is classification of time functions obtained observing the state of the liquid by using a memoryless readout circuit, usually implemented by a linear perceptron. Due to the high number of neurons in the liquid the training of the readout is difficult. A method for extracting subspace of deterministic sources from EEG data

In this paper, an algorithm for separating linear subspaces of time-locked brain responses and other noise sources in multichannel electroencephalography data is proposed. The search criterion used by method discriminates time-locked brain components and noise components on the basis of the assumed deterministic behavior that the time-locked brain sources obey. The comprehensive derivation of the method is given together with the description and the analysis of the results of the method's application to simulated and real EEG data sets. The possibilities of improving the results are also discussed.

Cyclic AMP-induced Chromatin Changes Support the NFATc-mediated Recruitment of GATA-3 to the Interleukin 5 Promoter

Elevated intracellular cyclic AMP levels, which suppress the proliferation of naive T cells and type 1 T helper (Th1) cells are a property of T helper 2 (Th2) cells and regulatory T cells. While cyclic AMP signals interfere with the IL-2 promoter induction, they support the induction of Th2-type genes, in particular of il-5 gene. We show here that cyclic AMP signals support the generation of three inducible DNase I hypersensitive chromatin sites over the il-5 locus, including its promoter region. A fundamental problem in the analysis of multifractal processes is to estimate the scaling exponent K(q) of moments of different order q from data. Conventional estimators use the empirical moments μ^[subscript r][superscript q]=⟨ | ε[subscript r](τ)|[superscript q]⟩ of wavelet coefficients ε[subscript r](τ), where τ is location and r is resolution. For stationary measures one usually considers "wavelets of order 0" (averages), whereas for functions with multifractal increments one must use wavelets of order at least 1. Non-Hermitian systems with parity-time ($\mathcal{PT}$) symmetry and anti-$\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry give rise to exceptional points (EPs) with intriguing properties related to, e.g., chiral transport and enhanced sensitivity, due to the coalescence of eigenvectors. Diagrammatic approach to quantum search

We introduce a simple diagrammatic approach for estimating how a randomly walking quantum particle searches on a graph in continuous-time, which involves sketching small weighted graphs with self-loops and considering degenerate perturbation theory's effects on them. Using this method, we give the first example of degenerate perturbation theory solving search on a graph whose evolution occurs in a subspace whose dimension grows with $N$.
