Analysis of Stray Flux Spectral Components in Induction Machines under Rotor Bar Breakages at Various Locations

2018

Induction machines under rotor electrical faults have been subjected to intensive research over the years. It is not only the nature of the fault that makes it important to study, but also the differences observed regarding this fault's effect on the motor's conditions. One of these conditions is the rotor bar breakages at non adjacent positions, which has drawn the attention of researchers due to the false negative diagnostic alarms that may be caused. In this paper, a novel approach is presented aiming to reliably detect this type of fault condition. The proposed method is based on the analysis of specific subcomponents of the stray flux over time. The analysis is implemented on an indust…

LabVIEW modeling and simulation, of the digital filters

2015

In order to study digital filters using virtual instrumentation a simulation program specifically designed for this purpose has been developed. To implement this program means to use the following facilities: studying digital Butterworth filters, Cebyshev, Bessel and Median and change their parameters: bandwidth, order, rank and slope; possibility of changing the input parameters: amplitude, offset and frequency; overlay over the input signal, to one of the types of noise such as white noise, Gaussian white noise and Poisson noise; choosing a type of digital filters: low pass, high pass, band-pass and band stop; waveforms graphical representation of the input and output signals; graphical r…

PPG/ECG Multisite Combo System Based on SiPM Technology

2019

Two versions of a PPG/ECG combined system have been realized and tested. In a first version a multisite system has been equipped by integrating 3 PPG optodes and 3 ECG leads, whereas in another setup a portable version has been carried out. Both versions have been realized by equipping the optical probes with SiPM detectors. SiPM technology is expected to bring relevant advantages in PPG systems and overcome the limitations of physiological information extracted by state of the art PPG, such as poor sensitivity of detectors used for backscattered light detection and motion artifacts seriously affecting the measurements repeatability and pulse waveform stability. This contribution presents t…

A nonstationary model for the analysis of transient speech signals

1987

In this correspondence, a model is presented for the analysis of transient speech signals, which is based on a sum of the impulsive responses corresponding to a number of poles with time-dependent parameters. The aim of this analysis is to obtain discriminative features of the different transient elements of speech.

Space-variant simultaneous detection of several objects by the use of multiple anamorphic fractional-Fourier-transform filters.

2010

A fractional correlator that is based on the anamorphic fractional Fourier transform is defined. This new, to our knowledge, correlator has been extended to work with multiple filters. The novelty introduced by the suggested system is the possibility of the simultaneous detection of several objects in different parts of the input scene (when anamorphic optics are dealt with), thereby permitting an independent degree of space invariance in two perpendicular directions. Computer experiments as well as experimental optical implementation are presented.

Photoplethysmographic sensor with smoothed output signals

1999

A reflectance-type photoplethysmographic sensor probe connected to personal computer has been constructed and tested. Special algorithms and PC programs providing fast processing and smoothing of the output signals were developed. High-quality single period photoplethysmography signals were recorded from various locations of the body (fingers, forearm, neck). Clear differences in the shapes of detected single-period signals have been observed for different persons, and also for the same person at various measurement locations and before/after physical exercise.

A fluorescence retrieval method for the flex sentinel-3 tandem mission

2014

A new fluorescence retrieval method is proposed to support ESA's 8th Earth Explorer Fluorescence EXplorer (FLEX) candidate mission. Most hyperspectral fluorescence retrieval algorithms available in the literature are very sensitive to true reflectance modelization and/or they assume the atmospheric status as known. The proposed algorithm delivers the retrieval of full fluorescence spectrum at canopy level by using only Top Of Atmosphere (TOA) radiances as input. The proposed method starts with (1) the atmospheric correction of TOA radiances, characterizing the state of the atmosphere without assuming any a-priori classification on aerosols models, (2) performing a first estimation of fluore…

Efficient Analysis and Synthesis Using a New Factorization of the Gabor Frame Matrix

2018

In this paper, we consider the case in which one needs to carry out Gabor analysis and synthesis on large signals using a short support analysis window and its corresponding, possibly longer canonical dual window, respectively. In this asymmetric context, we propose a novel factorization of the Gabor frame operator that exploits its strong and well-known structure and leads to a computational cost for synthesis, which is comparable to the one needed for short support analysis. The proposed factorization applies to any Gabor system with very mild conditions and leads to a potentially promising alternative to current synthesis algorithms in the case of short analysis windows whose support is …

Pump Efficiency Analysis of Waste Water Treatment Plants: A Data Mining Approach Using Signal Decomposition for Decision Making

2017

In Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTPs), the pump systems are one of the most energy intensive processes. An efficient energy management of pumps should produce environmental and economic benefits. In this paper, we propose a daily data-driven approach for a detailed pump efficiency analysis that reduces the time gap between an inefficiency and its detection, provides detailed information for decision making by using new Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and detects inefficient pump set-ups and designs. The proposed approach based on signal decomposition relies on sensors generally available in WWTPs, e.g. daily pump inflow and energy consumption. Moreover, it allows decomposing the data s…

Installation and commissioning of the TileCal Read-Out Drivers

2007

TileCal is the hadronic tile calorimeter of the ATLAS experiment at LHC/CERN. The main component of the TileCal back-end electronics is the Read-Out Driver (ROD). The ROD system is placed between the first and the second level trigger and it is the responsible for processing the data gathered by the detector. The principal devices of the RODs are the Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) mounted in the Processing Units (PUs) daughterboards. The architecture and functionality of the RODs are briefly explained. Then, it is presented the ROD system installation in the ATLAS electronics cavern. Currently, the RODs are being used for the detector commissioning. It is detailed the Detector and Verific…
