Multihydroxy-Functional Polysilanes via an Acetal Protecting Group Strategy

2010

A new acetal-protected monomer for Wurtz-type coupling to polysilanes, dichloro(3-(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-yloxy)propyl)methylsilane, referred to as dichloro(isopropylidene glyceryl propyl ether)methylsilane (DCIMS), has been introduced to synthesize a series of protected linear polysilane copolymers, poly[di-n-hexylsilane-co-(isopropylidene glyceryl propyl ether)methylsilane] (P(DHS-co-IMS)) via alkali-mediated reductive Wurtz-type coupling. The acetal protecting group proved stable under the harsh polymerization conditions. Differential scanning calorimetry combined with 1H, 13C, and 29Si NMR measurements confirmed composition and random structure of the obtained copolymers. After se…

Surface molecularly imprinted silica for selective solid-phase extraction of biochanin A, daidzein and genistein from urine samples

2015

Selective molecularly imprinted silica polymer (SiO2MIP) for extraction of biochanin A, daidzein and genistein was synthesized using the surface molecular imprinting technique with the silica gel as a support. Biochanin A (BCA) was used as a template, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) as a functional monomer, and tetraethoxysilicane (TEOS) as a cross-linker. Non-imprinted polymer with the sol–gel process (SiO2NIP) was also prepared for comparison. The synthesized polymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a standard Brunauer-Emett-Teller (BET) and Barret–Joyner–Halenda (BJH) analysis. The obtained results indicate…

2021

Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-29T08:36:43Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2021-01-01 Background: The objective of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of the active application of self-etching ceramic primer (ME&P) on the bond strength of different dental CAD/CAM materials (Lithium Disilicate ceramic (LD), Leucite ceramic (LE), Zirconia reinforced lithium silicate ceramic (ZLS), and Hybrid ceramic (HC)) with thermocycling aging. Material and Methods: The samples were randomly divided into 16 groups (n = 20). Dual resin cement cylinders were made and light cured for 10 s (1.200 mW/cm2) for the shear bond strength test. 3-way ANOVA revealed that the factors w…

Bonding to silicate ceramics : conventional technique compared with a simplified technique

2017

Background Silicate ceramic bonding is carried out by acid-etching with hydrofluoric acid (HF) followed by an application of silane. By replacing HF with ammonium polyfluoride, contained in the same flask as the silane, the number of steps in this clinical procedure, can be reduced, while maintaining bond strength values, and reducing toxicity. A shear bond test was performed to compare the conventional and the simplified surface treatment techniques. Material and methods Twenty ceramic samples were fabricated from IPS emax CAD® ceramic (Ivoclar Vivadent) and divided into two groups (G1 and G2) (n=10). The conventional technique was applied to G1 samples, and the simplified technique to G2 …

Complement proteins regulating macrophage polarisation on biomaterials

2019

[EN] One of the events occurring when a biomaterial is implanted in an host is the protein deposition onto its surface, which might regulate cell responses. When a biomaterial displays a compromised biocompatibility, distinct complement pathways can be activated to produce a foreign body reaction. In this article, we have designed different types of biomaterial surfaces to study the inflammation process. Here, we used different concentrations of (3-glycidoxypropyl)-trimethoxysilane (GPTMS), an organically-modified alkoxysilane as a precursor for the synthesis of various types of sol-gel materials functionalizing coatings for titanium implants to regulate biological responses. Our results sh…

Titania–Silica Materials for Enhanced Photocatalysis

2015

Mesoporous titania–organosilica nanoparticles comprised of anatase nanocrystals crosslinked with organosilica moieties have been prepared by direct co-condensation of a titania precursor, tetrabuthylortotitanate (TBOT), with two organosilica precursors, 1,4-bis(triethoxysilyl) benzene (BTEB) and 1,2-bis(triethoxysilyl) ethane (BTEE), in mild conditions and in the absence of surfactant. These hybrid materials show both high surface areas (200–360 m2 g−1) and pore volumes (0.3 cm3 g−1) even after calcination, and excellent photoactivity in the degradation of rhodamine 6G and in the partial oxidation of propene under UV irradiation, especially after the calcination of the samples. During calci…

Pd/C-Catalyzed Hydrosilylation of Enals and Enones with Triethylsilane: Conformer Populations Control the Stereoselectivity

2016

The palladium-on-charcoal-catalyzed chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective 1,4-hydrosilylation and transfer hydrogenation reactions of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones with triethylsilane have been investigated with a combination of experimental and theoretical methods. The reaction mechanism has been studied experimentally by monitoring the reactions by 1H NMR from aliquots withdrawn from the stirred reaction mixtures, labeling experiments, and control experiments. Our density functional theory results indicate that both aforementioned reactions are initiated with a dissociative adsorption of the triethylsilane on the palladium catalyst. In the hydrosilylation reaction, the α,β-unsaturat…

Role of the functional group in n-octydimethylsilanes in the synthesis of C8 reversed-phase silica packings for high-performance liquid chromatography

1986

Abstract C8 reversed-phase packings have been sysnthesised by reaction of a 25-nm pore-size high-performance liquid chromatographic silica (10 μm, as(BET) = 297 m2 g-1) with 2,4-lutidine as base and dichloromethane and N,N-dimethylflormamide as solvents, or without solvents and with the following silanes: n-octyldimenthylchlorosilane (C8-Cl), n-octyldimethylhydroxysilane (C8-OH), n-octyldimethylmethoxysilane (C8-OCH3), n-octyldimethylethoxysilane (C8-OC2H5), n-octyldimethyl(dimethylamino) silane [C8-N(CH3)2], n-octyldimethyl(trifluoroacetoxy)silane (C8- OCOCF3), and bis-(n-octyldimethylsiloxane) (C8-O-C8). C8-Cl, C8-OH and C8-OCH3 each form a reactive intermediate with 2,4-lutidine, favouri…

Raman Intensities of the ν1/ν3 Dyad of 28SiH4

1995

0022-2852; The stimulated Raman spectrum of 28SiH4 has been recorded in the ν1/ν3 region between 2182 and 2190 cm(-1). The intensities of the Raman transitions were modeled using a dyad scheme for the two interacting bands with a first-order polarizability expansion. The involved polarizability parameter; have been adjusted to fit about 800 measured intensities of transitions reaching upper states up to J = 18. The resulting standard deviation is about 10%. Cyclic metal(oid) clusters control platinum-catalysed hydrosilylation reactions : from soluble to zeolite and MOF catalysts

2020

The Pt-catalysed addition of silanes to functional groups such as alkenes, alkynes, carbonyls and alcohols, i.e. the hydrosilylation reaction, is a fundamental transformation in industrial and academic chemistry, often claimed as the most important application of Pt catalysts in solution. However, the exact nature of the Pt active species and its mechanism of action is not well understood yet, particularly regarding regioselectivity. Here, experimental and computational studies together with an ad hoc graphical method show that the hydroaddition of alkynes proceeds through Pt-Si-H clusters of 3-5 atoms (metal(oid) association) in parts per million amounts (ppm), which decrease the energy of…
