Od zupy głodowej do regionalnego symbolu

2017

The subject of the study is one of the characteristic Silesian soups - wodzionka, which has since 2007 been on the List of Traditional Products kept by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The reference literature and the current field research indicate that the characteristic soup with bread and garlic is consumed throughout Upper Silesia - both in rural and industrial communities. The genesis of its consumption, just as that of other traditional dishes, is directly associated with once meager nutrition. Wodzionka, in the past synonymous with “Silesian poverty,” was a universal dish, served for breakfast, lunch, and often even dinner. In particular sections of the region, it …

Pielgrzymka Ślązaków do Rzymu i Viterbo w 1967 r. Na drodze polsko-niemieckiego pojednania

2018

Ludność Górnego Śląska w latach 1950–1989 w świetle wybranych polskich i niemieckich materiałów źródłowych (opracowanie analityczne)

2017

RESTRICTIONS ON REGIONAL PASSENGER TRANSPORT DURING EPIDEMIOLOGICAL THREAT (COVID-19) – AN EXAMPLE OF THE LOWER SILESIAN VOIVODSHIP IN POLAND

2020

The beginning of 2020 was associated with the appearance of the global coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). The spread of the epidemic caused the introduction of an epidemiological emergency in Poland in early March (on March 12). This resulted in reduced public transport, including regional rail transport. In Lower Silesia, this concerned regional and fast connections. The conducted analysis concerns regional connections and is based on exploration of the spatial and the quantitative aspect of these changes. The transport offer before and after the announcing of the epidemic was analysed. The results showed that most of the transport restrictions concerned the peripheries of the voivodeship (l…

Trwałe dziedzictwo Angelusa Silesiusa na przykładzie kościelnej pieśni „Jezu, Jezu do mnie przyjdź ”

2015

The literary legacy of Johannes Scheffler - Angelus Silesius (1624-1677), known in Polish as Silesian Angel, is one of the most precious jewels of culture created in Silesia in the 17th century. The poet became famous with a small collection of couplets Cherubinischer Wandersmann (Cherub wanderer), which tries to present the mystical path to God in a speculative way. Silesian Angel tried to show an affective way to God and the collection of poems Heilige Seelen-Lust (Holy joy of the soul) is a meaningful example. This work includes the song Die Psyche sehnt sich nach Jesu alleine (Psyche only longs Jesus). It gives basis for the church song Jesus, Jesus, come to me, which is still popular i…

Tasty Events : On Culinary Events in the Silesian Voivodeship

2015

The topic of reflection undertaken herein are public events having an evident culinary character. In the first part of her essay, the author proposes a typology of culinary events, with special focus on those events which appear in the public space the most often. Their number and considerable complexity are associated with the target participant group, the current patterns of consumption, gastronomic styles, and finally with functions which have been ascribed to those events. In the second part, she discusses selected culinary events organised in the Silesian voivodeship which have characteristic dishes (e.g. wodzionka, moczka, kołocz) associated with the local cuisine as their Leitmotif. …
