Sol-gel entrapped chromium(VI): a new selective, efficient and recyclable oxidizing system

2001

Abstract The sol-gel entrapment of chromium(VI) within a silica matrix, obtained by oxidation with ozone of the corresponding entrapped chromium(III), was found to be an efficient and recyclable oxidizing system (at least up to 16 times) for benzylic alcohols. No leaching of chromium in solution was observed, which prevented any environmental pollution.

Dependence of the emission properties of the germanium lone pair center on Ge doping of silica

2011

We present an experimental investigation regarding the changes induced by the Ge doping level on the emission profile of the germanium lone pair center (GLPC) in Ge doped silica. The investigated samples have been produced by the sol-gel method and by plasma-activated chemical vapor deposition and have doping levels up to 20% by weight. The recorded photoluminescence spectra show that the GLPC emission profile is the same when the Ge content is lower than ∼ 1% by weight, whereas it changes for higher doping levels. We have also performed Raman scattering measurements that show the decrease of the D1 Raman band at 490 cm( - 1) when the Ge content is higher than 1% by weight. The data suggest…

Nature of cobalt active species in hydrodesulfurization catalysis: combined support and preparation method effects

2007

Abstract Co/γ-Al2O3, Co/SiO2, Co/MCM-41, Co/ASA and Co/S2 (amorphous aluminosilicate with Al/Si = 0.13 and with Al/Si ≈ 2, respectively) were prepared by the method of wet impregnation and by the method of precipitation in the presence of sodium carbonate. The samples were characterised by XPS, XRD and TPR. The catalytic activity was tested in the hydrodesulfurization of thiophene using a continuous flow reactor. Among the wet impregnated catalysts those supported on the amorphous and ordered mesoporous silica exhibited higher HDS activity as compared to the alumina containing supports. Particularly, the use of the mesoporous, high surface area MCM-41 support, determined the best performing…

Combined effect of noble metals (Pd, Au) and support properties on HDS activity of Co/SiO2 catalysts

2009

Abstract Cobalt-based catalysts supported on different types of SiO 2 are studied in the hydrodesulfurization of thiophene. Amorphous silica and siliceous MCM-41 and HMS, characterized by different texture and surface acidity are used as carriers. The effects due to the modification of the support by impregnation with palladium precursor and to the co-impregnation of cobalt and gold are considered. The catalysts are characterized by N 2 physisorption (BET), XRD, TPR and XPS techniques. The use as supports of the ordered mesoporous silica with higher surface area with respect to amorphous silica, produces a better dispersion of the cobalt oxides particles. Moreover, the addition of palladium…

Synthesis of 2,4,6-trisubstituted tetrahydropyrans via 6-exo selenoetherification of unsaturated alcohols

2001

Stereoselectivity, regioselectivity and yields in the 6-exo selenoetherification of four unsaturated diols were found to depend on the stereochemistry of the diols and on the presence of an oxygen atom close to the intermediate seleniranium ring. Silica gel was useful in order to obtain good yields. Reactions performed both under kinetic and thermodynamic control led to the same products. Stereoselectivity, regioselectivity and yields in the 6-exo selenoetherification of four unsaturated diols were found to depend on several factors such as the stereochemistry of the diols, the nature of the R group, the nature of the counter anion of the PhSe+ species and the presence of silica gel.

Precatalyst or dosing-device? The [Pd2{μ-(C6H4) PPh2}2{μ-O2C(C6H5)}2] complex anchored on a carboxypolystyrene polymer as an effective supplier of pa…

2020

Abstract A new catalyst has been synthesized from the precursor [Pd2{μ-(C6H4) PPh2}2 {μ-O2C(C6H5)}2] immobilized on a carboxypolystyrene polymer that exhibits an excellent dispersion of the Pd (II) centers, reusability, and catalytic activity in front of phenyl bromides. The activity of this new material was studied in detail for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction and compared to that of Pd nanoparticles (NPs) supported on UVM-7 (a mesoporous silica), and Pd NPs stabilized with polyvinylpirrolydone. The homogeneous/heterogeneous character of the catalytic process was determined from the results of the hot-filtration, centrifugation, poisoning, three phases tests, and from differential sensitivity …

Nośnikowy katalizator wanadocenowy z udziałem cieczy jonowych w polimeryzacji etylenu

2018

Najwyższą aktywność w polimeryzacji etylenu osiągnięto wobec układu SILP z udziałem krzemionki o bardzo regularnej morfologii, gdzie do utworzenia etylochloroglinianowych anionów pi…
