Stochastic Stability Analysis for Markovian Jump Neutral Nonlinear Systems

In this paper, the stability problem is studied for a class of Markovian jump neutral nonlinear systems with time-varying delay. By Lyapunov-Krasovskii function approach, a novel mean-square exponential stability criterion is derived for the situations that the system's transition rates are completely accessible, partially accessible and non-accessible, respectively. Moreover, the developed stability criterion is extended to the systems with different bounded sector nonlinear constraints. Finally, some numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
A New Approach to the Generalization of Darbo’s Fixed Point Problem by Using Simulation Functions with Application to Integral Equations

We investigate the existence of fixed points of self-mappings via simulation functions and measure of noncompactness. We use different classes of additional functions to get some general contractive inequalities. As an application of our main conclusions, we survey the existence of a solution for a class of integral equations under some new conditions. An example will be given to support our results.

This paper deals with some methodological aspects related to the discretization of a class of integro-differential equations modelling the evolution of the probability distribution over the microscopic state of a large system of interacting individuals. The microscopic state includes both mechanical and socio-biological variables. The discretization of the microscopic state generates a class of dynamical systems defining the evolution of the densities of the discretized state. Guaranteed error bounds and local indicators for adaptive solvers using stabilised space–time IgA approximations to parabolic problems

Abstract The paper is concerned with space–time IgA approximations to parabolic initial–boundary value problems. We deduce guaranteed and fully computable error bounds adapted to special features of such type of approximations and investigate their efficiency. The derivation of error estimates is based on the analysis of the corresponding integral identity and exploits purely functional arguments in the maximal parabolic regularity setting. The estimates are valid for any approximation from the admissible (energy) class and do not contain mesh-dependent constants. Studies about the constructive aspects of noise and fluctuations in different non-linear systems have shown that the addition of external noise to systems with an intrinsic noise may result in a less noisy response. Assessing the impact of copy number variants on miRNA genes in autism by Monte Carlo simulation.

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are childhood neurodevelopmental disorders with complex genetic origins. Previous studies have investigated the role of de novo Copy Number Variants (CNVs) and microRNAs as important but distinct etiological factors in ASD. We developed a novel computational procedure to assess the potential pathogenic role of microRNA genes overlapping de novo CNVs in ASD patients. Here we show that for chromosomes # 1, 2 and 22 the actual number of miRNA loci affected by de novo CNVs in patients was found significantly higher than that estimated by Monte Carlo simulation of random CNV events. Adaptive trial design: a general methodology for censored time to event data.

Adaptive designs allow a clinical trial design to be changed according to interim findings without inflating type I error. The Inverse Normal method can be considered as an adaptive generalization of classical group sequential designs. The use of the Inverse Normal method for censored survival data was demonstrated only for the logrank statistic. However, the logrank statistic is inefficient in the presence of nuisance covariates affecting survival. We demonstrate, how the Inverse Normal method can be applied to Cox regression analysis. A numerical model of the cloud-topped planetary boundary-layer: radiative forcing of aerosols in stratiform clouds

In a numerical sensitivity study with the microphysical stratus model MISTRA the impact of aerosol particles on the time evolution of stratiform clouds is investigated. Four model runs with different aerosol size distributions are presented. Two size distributions are typical for maritime and continental air masses. The third model run consists of a mixture of maritime and rural aerosol particles, while in the fourth case study rural aerosol particles with a reduced water solubility are utilized.
