Matlab-based interface for the simultaneous acquisition of force measures and Doppler ultrasound muscular images

This paper tackles the design of a graphical user interface (GUI) based on Matlab (MathWorks Inc., MA), a worldwide standard in the processing of biosignals, which allows the acquisition of muscular force signals and images from a ultrasound scanner simultaneously. Thus, it is possible to unify two key magnitudes for analyzing the evolution of muscular injuries: the force exerted by the muscle and section/length of the muscle when such force is exerted. This paper describes the modules developed to finally show its applicability with a case study to analyze the functioning capacity of the shoulder rotator cuff.

Remarks on IEEE 802.11 DCF performance analysis

This letter presents a new approach to evaluate the throughput/delay performance of the 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF). Our approach relies on elementary conditional probability arguments rather than bidimensional Markov chains (as proposed in previous models) and can be easily extended to account for backoff operation more general than DCF's one.

FMI4j: A Software Package for working with Functional Mock-up Units on the Java Virtual Machine

This paper introduces FMI4j, a software package for working with Functional Mock-up Units (FMUs) on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). FMI4j is written in Kotlin, which is 100% interoperable with Java, and consists of programming APIs for parsing the meta-data associated with an FMU, as well as running them. FMI4j is compatible with FMI version 2.0 for Model Exchange (ME) and Co-Simulation (CS). Currently, FMI4j is the only software library targeting the JVM supporting ME 2.0. In addition to provide bare-bones access to such FMUs, it provides the means for solving them using a range of bundled fixedand variable-step solvers. A Measure of Concurrent Neural Firing Activity Based on Mutual Information

Multiple methods have been developed in an attempt to quantify stimulus-induced neural coordination and to understand internal coordination of neuronal responses by examining the synchronization phenomena in neural discharge patterns. In this work we propose a novel approach to estimate the degree of concomitant firing between two neural units, based on a modified form of mutual information (MI) applied to a two-state representation of the firing activity. Measuring the agreement between brain connectivity networks.

Investigating the level of similarity between two brain networks, resulting from measures of effective connectivity in the brain, can be of interest from many respects. In this study, we propose and test the idea to borrow measures of association used in machine learning to provide a measure of similarity between the structure of (un-weighted) brain connectivity networks.
