Stochastic dynamics and mean field approach in a system of three interacting species

2008

The spatio-temporal dynamics of three interacting species, two preys and one predator, in the presence of two different kinds of noise sources is studied. To describe the spatial distributions of the species we use a model based on Lotka-Volterra equations. A correlated dichotomous noise acts on \beta, the interaction parameter between the two preys, and a multiplicative white noise affects directly the dynamics of each one of the three species. We study the time behaviour of the three species in single site for different values of the multiplicative noise intensity, finding noise-induced oscillations of the three species densities with an anticorrelated behaviour of the two preys. Afterwar…

Sequential Reactions of Alkynes on an Iridium(III) Single Site

2017

Sequential insertion of terminal alkynes on IrIII cyclometalated complexes allow the formation of novel metallapolycycles in a controlled and efficient manner. ortho-Methylarylethynyl derivatives led to an unprecedented cascade combination of three fundamental processes (C−C bond formation, C(sp3)−H activation, and reductive coupling) on a single IrIII center, in a process compatible with functionalized biomolecules and photoactive substrates. The reaction with tert-butylacetylene led to a [6,5,4]-polycycle that incorporates an iridacyclobutenylidene in its structure. The sequence is a multicomponent reaction in which the metal not only promotes the different steps but also determines their…

Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery for the treatment of benign adnexal disease: a prospective trial.

2010

Background. To validate feasibility, efficacy, and safeness of laparoscopic treatment of benign adnexal diseases through a single transumbilical access (LESS) in a prospective series of patients. Methods. A prospective clinical trial including 30 women has been conducted at the Division of Gynecology of Catholic University of Sacred Hearth of Rome. Patients underwent different laparoscopic procedures by LESS utilizing a multiport trocar and conventional straight laparoscopic instrumentation. Intra and perioperative outcome has been reported. Results. Ten mono/bilateral adnexectomies and 20 cystectomies have been performed by LESS approach. Laparoscopic procedures were completed through a si…
