Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) is the causal agent of the most important virus disease of citrus. Numerous CTV isolates differing in biological and molecular characteristics have been reported worldwide. Recently, CTV was detected in Italy in several citrus crops from three separate areas: (1) Cassibile, province of Syracuse; (2) Massafra, province of Taranto; and (3) Belpasso, province of Catania. CTV isolates from Massafra and Cassibile were mild, whereas isolates from Belpasso induced severe symptoms. Flexible fibreoptic intubation is widely accepted as an important modality for the management of patients with difficult airways. We compared the aScope, a novel, single-use, flexible video-endoscope designed to aid tracheal intubation, with a standard flexible intubating fibrescope, by examining the performance of 21 anaesthetists during an easy and difficult intubation simulation in a manikin. Intubation success, time for intubation, and rating of the devices (using a scale from 1, excellent to 6, fail) were documented. Dynamic Packet Bundling for VoIP Transmission Over Rel'7 HSUPA with 10ms TTI Length

In this paper, the system level optimization of the voice over IP transmission in the HSUPA system, configured with a 10 ms TTI length, is analyzed. The study considers the release 7 improvements to HSUPA, in terms of the DPCCH gating concept. A dynamic activated MAC layer bundling of two VoIP packets in a single frame is proposed and compared against the single packet per frame transmission by means of quasi-static system level simulations.

Controlled assembly of single colloidal crystals using electro-osmotic micro-pumps.

We assemble charged colloidal spheres at deliberately chosen locations on a charged unstructured glass substrate utilizing ion exchange based electro-osmotic micro-pumps. Using microscopy, a simple scaling theory and Brownian Dynamics simulations, we systematically explore the control parameters of crystal assembly and the mechanisms through which they depend on the experimental boundary conditions. We demonstrate that crystal quality depends crucially on the assembly distance of the colloids. This is understood as resulting from the competition between inward transport by the electro-osmotic pump flow and the electro-phoretic outward motion of the colloids.
