Multiband superconductors have a sufficient number of degrees of freedom to allow topological excitations characterized by Skyrmionic topological invariants. In the most common, clean s-wave multiband, systems the interband magnetic coupling favours composite vortex solutions, without a Skyrmionic topological charge. It was discussed recently that certain kinds of anisotropies lead to hybridisation of the interband phase difference (Leggett) mode with magnetic modes, dramatically changing the hydromagnetostatics of the system. The REFLEX galaxy cluster survey VIII. Spectroscopic observations and optical atlas

We present the final data from the spectroscopic survey of the ROSAT-ESO Flux-Limited X-ray (REFLEX) catalog of galaxy clusters. The REFLEX survey covers 4.24 steradians (34% of the entire sky) below a declination of 2.5 deg and at high Galactic latitude (|b| > 20 deg). The REFLEX catalog includes 447 entries with a median redshift of 0.08 and is better than 90% complete to a limiting flux fx = 3x10^{-12} erg s^{-1} cm^{-2} (0.1 to 2.4 keV), representing the largest statistically homogeneous sample of clusters drawn from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey (RASS) to date. Sustainability of modern agro-hydrology requires the knowledge of spatial and temporal variability of vegetation biomass to optimize management of land and water resources. This paper reports on the results of an Italian project aimed at investigating the use of X-band COSMO-SkyMed (CSK) SAR data for applications in agriculture and hydrology. Existing classification and retrieval algorithms have been tailored to CSK data and time series of crop, leaf area index and soil moisture maps have been retrieved and assessed through the comparison with in situ data collected over three agricultural sites. In addition, the CSK-derived surface parameters have been integrated into crop growth and hydrologic models and the resulting improvements have been assessed.
