Many Galactic sources of gamma rays, such as supernova remnants, are expected to produce neutrinos with a typical energy cutoff well below 100 TeV. For the IceCube Neutrino Observatory located at the South Pole, the southern sky, containing the inner part of the Galactic plane and the Galactic Center, is a particularly challenging region at these energies, because of the large background of atmospheric muons. Neural contribution to postactivation potentiation

The current study was designed to investigate the contribution of neural factors to postactivation potentiation (PAP). Neuromuscular function (i.e. twitches, H-reflexes, motor evoked potentials, and voluntary isometric ballistic contractions) of 8 power-trained (POW) and 8 endurance-trained (END) athletes was recorded before and after a 8-second maximal isometric conditioning contraction (CC) to induce PAP, to elucidate discriminating neural factors in exploiting PAP that might arise from the former training background compared to the latter. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin Jyväskylän seudulla muodostuvista jätevedenpuhdistamoiden lietteistä ja rejektivesistä sekä biojätteistä, lannoista ja lentotuhkista tuotettavissa olevia lannoitevalmisteita. Tiedot raaka-aineiden määristä ja ominaisuuksista koottiin pääosin alueellisesta jätteenkäsittely-yhtiöstä, jätevedenkäsittely-yhtiöstä sekä energiayhtiöstä. Osa raaka-aineiden ominaisuuksista arvioitiin kirjallisuusarvojen perusteella tai määritettiin laskennallisesti. GASTROINTESTINAL HELMINTHS OF THE DUSKY DOLPHIN, LAGENORHYNCHUS OBSCURUS (GRAY, 1828), OFF PATAGONIA, IN THE SOUTHWESTERN ATLANTIC

The stomachs and intestines of 23 dusky dolphins incidentally caught in a trawl fishery off Patagonia were surveyed for helminths. All the dolphins were parasitized, with a total of 3,936 helminth individuals. Only five species occurred, of which three were common (prevalence ± 10%): Anisakis simplex, Braunina cordiformis and Hadwenius sp. A. simplex was present in all the dolphins and showed the highest abundance and mean intensity (104.9 individuals/infected host). B. cordiformis was next most common (87%), and Hadwenius sp. third (52.2%). Korkeaintensiteettisen kestävyysharjoittelun blokkiohjelmointi on havaittu tehokkaaksi tavaksi parantaa kestävyyssuorituskykyä. Riittävän palautumisen merkitys korostuu kuormittavien harjoitusjaksojen aikana. Sykeohjatun harjoittelun ideana on ohjelmoida harjoittelua yksilöllisesti autonomisen hermoston toimintaan perustuen. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli vertailla sykeohjatun ja ennalta määrätyn blokkiharjoittelun vaikutuksia kestävyyssuorituskykyyn ja hermolihasjärjestelmän toimintaan.
