Ferromagnetic gyroscopes for tests of fundamental physics

A ferromagnetic gyroscope (FG) is a ferromagnet whose angular momentum is dominated by electron spin polarization and that will precess under the action of an external torque, such as that due to a magnetic field. Here we model and analyze FG dynamics and sensitivity, focusing on practical schemes for experimental realization. In the case of a freely floating FG, we model the transition from dynamics dominated by libration in relatively high externally applied magnetic fields, to those dominated by precession at relatively low applied fields. Tin(IV) catalyzed D-galacturonic acid anomerization

A comparative kinetic study of anomerization between the four main forms (alpha/beta-pyranosides and alpha/beta-furanosides) of D-galacturonic acid (GalAH(2), 1) and tin(IV) complexed D-galacturonate ([Sn(CH(3))(2)(GalA)(H(2)O)(2)], 2) in D(2)O, is reported. Important differences are shown by pD vs. mutarotation rate profiles of 1 and 2. ABSTRACT: The aim of this research was to study the drying kinetics of apple and zucchini slices enriched with anthocyanins and to evaluate the influence of drying temperature on the anthocyanin content of apple and zucchini snacks. Apple (Granny Smith) and zucchini (Cucurbita pepo) slices were enriched with anthocyanins by vacuum impregnation with blueberry juice. Then, slices were dehydrated at 40, 50 and 60 ºC with 1.0 m/s air flow. Dehydrated samples were referred to as anthocyanin enriched snacks. Existen métodos de análisis in vitro que permiten evaluar la estabilidad de las antocianinas en relación con la interacción de los distintos componentes de las matrices alimentarias, el pH, la temperatura, presencia de inhibidores o potenciadores de absorción y presencia de enzimas. Es aplūkoju specifisku jaunu cilvēku grupa (18-30 gadi), kas kā bērni devušies uz ārzemēm ar vecāku/iem, bet atgriezušies kā pilngadīgas personas. Pētījuma mērķis: Izpētīt atgriešanās procesu un kā tiek veidotas translokālās attiecības ar cilvēkiem un vietām. Noskaidrot, kā tiek pozicionēta piederības un/vai nepiederības sajūta vietai vai valstij. Pētījuma rezultāti parāda, ka tiek veidotas translokālas attiecības ar cilvēkiem, vietām, taču tās ir aktīvas vai pasīvas atkarībā no indivīda atrašanās vietas. Migrācijas iespaidā, pārņemot vairāku valstu sabiedrības uzvedības modeļus, veidojas transnacionāla identitāte.

Salīdzinoši plašās teritorijās lauksaimniecības zemes netiek vairs apsaimniekotas, tādējādi tās apaug ar krūmiem un mežu. Rezultātā tiek ietekmēta tradicionālā lauku kultūrainava un augsnes auglība, tiek ietekmēta bioloģiskā daudzveidība un bieži zemes neapstrādāšana nes arī ekonomiskos zaudējumus. Lensless object scanning holography for two-dimensional mirror-like and diffuse reflective objects

Recently proposed lensless object scanning holography (LOSH) [Opt. Express 20, 9382 (2012)] is a fully lensless method capable of improving the image quality in digital Fourier holography applied to one-dimensional (1D) reflective objects and it involves a very simplified experimental setup. LOSH is based on the recording and digital postprocessing of a set of digital lensless Fourier transform holograms, which finally results in a synthetic image with improved resolution, field-of-view (FOV), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and depth of field.
