Before and after Science.
On Analytical vs . Schizophrenic Procedures for Computing Music
2009
The authors present a perspective on computer music, which is based on some particular definitions of music in relation to oral culture and cybernetics. They describe some experiments with different models of neural architectures which generate original music, and then suggest that if such neural systems are rich, effective and intuitive enough to produce ‘live’ music, the understanding of their behaviour may require the development of some ‘schizophrenic’ procedures, as well as analytical ones.
Charles XIV Jean (alias Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte) and the Finnish Question
2008
One of the first important acts of Charles Jean XIV as head of Sweden was to renounce the idea of reconquering Finland. It was a difficult position to take, considering the conditions of the time, and in all likelihood, he swung back and forth for several months before taking a definitive decision, contrary to what he might have asserted later. Moreover, the regent, then sovereign, of Sweden, was forced to justify his choice throughout his reign and to navigate between the dangerous reefs of a diverse opposition , which was organised to varying degrees. Thus, the Finnish policy was, for another thirty years, a thorn in the side of the royal power at Stockholm.

Before and After Science: Radcliffe-Brown, British Social Anthropology, and the Relationship Between Field Research, Ethnography, and Theory
2020
In Radcliffe-Brown’s theoretical program of social anthropology as a “natural science of society” empirically grounded and making extensive use of the “comparative method” for aims of generalization about social phenomena, the ethnographical method according to Malinowski’s principles was seen as a fundamental research tool useful not only for guaranteeing scientific reliability to the work of collecting and recording ethnographic documentation but also for empirically testing theoretical hypotheses. It was thus often supposed that ideally the latter had to orientate the selection of particular research topics before starting fieldwork and while carrying out it. In the first part of the pap…
Digital socialization in a Territorial Intelligence case: The Fontaine d'Ouche area in Dijon (Burgundy, France).
2013
How to mobilize citizens around eco-responsible conducts? With the "Transition Towns MOVIDA" project (http://programme-movida.fr), we wish to identify levers related to a most sustainable consumption, in reference to the Transition initiated by Rob Hopkins. The present proposal consider all possible "socio-technical communicational" devices that can support the socio-ecological transition in a local area such as Fontaine d'Ouche in Dijon: reflexivity spaces (fear and hopes, actions and attitude) in a dialogical base for decisionmaking (at individual and collective level). What kind of ICT devices should allows inhabitants of the Fontaine D'ouche area to be more resilient? In this case, how …
Le deuil dans un monde connecté
2018
