Communicating Personal Goals: Consequences for Person Perception in the Work and Family Domains
2006
Based on a set of three experimental studies (total N = 608), we examined how people appraise another person’s well-being and motivation in the work and family domains on the basis of knowledge of this other person’s goal system. Participants were introduced to the life situation of either a woman or a man belonging to a successful dual-career couple. This target person reported pursuing only work-related personal goals (work priority), only family-related personal goals (family priority) or both work- and family-related goals (balanced goal system). Participants were asked to appraise the target person’s life satisfaction as well as a number of work- and family-related attributes. Overall…

The first two studies (1 and 2) allow the performances to emerge between professionals and PPSMJ. Our results lead us to consider the role of each in the representation they have of each other. Thus, we have established a sociogram relationships between professionals (study 3) to understand how different types of teams working together in support of PPSMJ. It appears that an actor is privileged to its partners, …
Personal need for structure and occupational strain: An investigation of structural models and interaction with job complexity
1998
We explored the relation between personal need for structure (PNS), as a global construct and as divided into two components, and occupational strain. Analyses of questionnaire data from two independent samples of Finnish social and health care personnel (n = 3015 and n = 1840) suggest that a high personal desire for structure (DS-component) decreases the risk of psychological strain symptoms, whereas a personal tendency to express negative reactions when one is confronted with a lack of structure (RLS-component) increases this risk. The moderated effect of job context was then tested in a third sample of social and health care personnel (n = 734). The elevated risk of strain in high-RLS em…

Intimate partner violence against women and victim-blaming attitudes among Europeans.
2014
In summary: Academics and policy-makers face many challenges in their efforts to reduce intimate partner violence against women. Investing in public education and awareness initiatives is critically important, as is ensuring that these initiatives are well informed, appropriately targeted and properly designed. Finally, constant monitoring will be needed to assess the effectiveness of efforts to change public attitudes that further victimize the women who are victims of intimate partner violence. Społeczna percepcja energetyki wiatrowej na przykładzie farmy wiatrowej Kuniów
2017
Przeprowadzono badania ankietowe wśród mieszkańców wsi Kuniów w południowo-zachodniej Polsce, dotyczące pozytywnych i negatywnych aspektów budowy oraz funkcjonowania farmy wiatrowej. Ocenie poddano farmę 2 elektrowni wiatrowych o mocy 2 MW każda, z wysokością wież 110 m, długością rotorów 45 m i odległością od zabudowy 620 i 1300 m. W ocenie ankietowanych głównymi pozytywnymi aspektami rozwoju energetyki wiatrowej są: czysta energia, tania energia oraz zwiększenie możliwości rozwoju gminy i wsi z podatków. Automatic Influences of Priming on Prosocial Behavior
2013
Literature on the automaticity of social behavior indicates that, in some circumstances, priming a concept automatically activates related behavioral schemas. Previous research studies have used priming techniques to increase willingness to help, but most of these have simply measured intention to engage in prosocial behavior rather than real helping behavior. Two different studies investigated the effect of priming the concept of prosocial behavior on real helping behavior. After priming prosociality through a scrambled sentences test, participants were shown to increase their donation rate after a direct request coming from an experimenter's confederate (Study 1) and to spontaneously help…
The Two-Systems Account of Theory of Mind: Testing the Links to Social- Perceptual and Cognitive Abilities
2018
According to the two-systems account of theory of mind (ToM), understanding mental states of others involves both fast social-perceptual processes, as well as slower, reflexive cognitive operations (Frith and Frith, 2008; Apperly and Butterfill, 2009). To test the respective roles of specific abilities in either of these processes we administered 15 experimental procedures to a large sample of 343 participants, testing ability in face recognition and holistic perception, language, and reasoning. ToM was measured by a set of tasks requiring ability to track and to infer complex emotional and mental states of others from faces, eyes, spoken language, and prosody. We used structural equation m…
