Conversational agents in online organization–stakeholder interactions: a state-of-the-art analysis and implications for further research
2020
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to review the extant literature on chatbots and stakeholder interactions to identify major trends and shed light on knowledge gaps.Design/methodology/approachA systematic literature review was conducted combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. A code book based on early systematic literature reviews was developed and used to extract information from 62 discrete peer-reviewed English articles. An inductive approach was used to analyse definitions of chatbots, topics, metrics, perspectives and implications.FindingsChatbots have been studied by many different disciplines, but not much from organizational, stakeholder and corporate communication per…
Towards Measuring the Agility of Software Business
2018
Agile development methods have been employed across the software industry. However, it is not always clear if the used methods actually help the software firms in being more agile and if agility has a positive influence in the software firm performance. Studying these questions may turn out impossible since good measurements for assessing the overall agility of software firms do not yet exist. A need is therefore detected to measure the differences in agility between firms and finding the means to evaluate the differences in agility in reliable manner. This article examines how to measure the agility of a software firm and reports initial steps in the process of developing measurement instr…
Practices and Infrastructures for Machine Learning Systems : An Interview Study in Finnish Organizations
2022
Using interviews, we investigated the practices and toolchains for machine learning (ML)-enabled systems from 16 organizations across various domains in Finland. We observed some well-established artificial intelligence engineering approaches, but practices and tools are still needed for the testing and monitoring of ML-enabled systems. Peer reviewed
Mathematical and Coding Lessons Based on Creative Origami Activities
2019
AbstractThis paper considers how creativity and creative activities can be encouraged in regular mathematical classes by combining different teaching approaches and academic disciplines. We combined origami and paper folding with fractals and their mathematical properties as well as with coding in Scratch in order to facilitate learning mathematics and computer science. We conducted a case study experiment in a Serbian school with 15 high school students and applied different strategies for learning profound mathematical and coding concepts such as fractals dimension and recursion. The goal of the study was to employ creative activities and examine students’ activities during this process i…
Developing Primary School Students’ Formal Geometric Definitions Knowledge by Connecting Origami and Technology
2019
In this paper, we present opportunities with the uses of origami and technology, in our case GeoGebra, in teaching formal geometric definitions for fifth-grade primary school students (11-12yrs). Applying origami in mathematical lessons is becoming to be recognized as a valuable tool for improving students’ mathematical knowledge. In previous studies, we developed origami and technology activities for high-school mathematics, but we wanted to explore if such approach would work in primary school as well. For this reason, we chose a flat origami model оf the crane and we used this model to introduce students to basic geometrical notions and definitions, such as points, lines, intersections o…
Limiting Carleman weights and conformally transversally anisotropic manifolds
2020
We analyze the structure of the set of limiting Carleman weights in all conformally flat manifolds, 3 3 -manifolds, and 4 4 -manifolds. In particular we give a new proof of the classification of Euclidean limiting Carleman weights, and show that there are only three basic such weights up to the action of the conformal group. In dimension three we show that if the manifold is not conformally flat, there could be one or two limiting Carleman weights. We also characterize the metrics that have more than one limiting Carleman weight. In dimension four we obtain a complete spectrum of examples according to the structure of the Weyl tensor. In particular, we construct unimodular Lie groups whose …
Best practices for International eSourcing of Software Products and Services
2008
This paper analyzes how the information and communications technology-supported international eSourcing of software products and services (IeS) can be effectively executed. The extant literature falls short of providing a systematic and detailed enough set of best practices to guide IeS. This paper presents best practices for IeS to facilitate further research, and to help managers and other stakeholders to understand, execute, and proactively improve and manage international eSourcing. The practices emphasize the need to establish and enact rigorous, mature, and quantitatively managed eSourcing life- cycles in order to transcend temporal, geographical, social, technical, and other boundari…
Location-Awareness for Failure Management in Cellular Networks: An Integrated Approach
2021
Recent years have seen the proliferation of different techniques for outdoor and, especially, indoor positioning. Still being a field in development, localization is expected to be fully pervasive in the next few years. Although the development of such techniques is driven by the commercialization of location-based services (e.g., navigation), its application to support cellular management is considered to be a key approach for improving its resilience and performance. When different approaches have been defined for integrating location information into the failure management activities, they commonly ignore the increase in the dimensionality of the data as well as their integration into th…
Customer satisfaction in B2B cloud services
2013
Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on kirjallisuuskatsauksen kautta esitellä B2B-pilvipalveluiden asiakastyytyväisyyteen vaikuttavia seikkoja, ja kuinka näitä seikkoja tulisi ottaa huomioon asiakastyytyväisyyden parantamisessa. Tässä tutkimuksessa verkkopohjaiseen liiketoimintaan liittyvää asiakastyytyväisyyden tutkimusta käytettiin pohjana etsiessä asiakastyytyväisyyteen vaikuttavia seikkoja pilvipalveluissa. Tutkimuksessa vertaillaan asiakastyytyväisyyteen vaikuttavia seikkoja vertailemalla tyytyväisyyteen vaikuttavia seikkoja verkkopohjaisen liiketoiminnan, yritysliiketoiminnan (B2B) ja kolmen asiakastyytyväisyyden ja palvelun laadun mallin (American Customer Satisfaction Index, SERVQUAL and SaaS-Q…
Partial-order reduction for parity games and parameterised Boolean equation systems
2022
AbstractIn model checking, reduction techniques can be helpful tools to fight the state-space explosion problem. Partial-order reduction (POR) is a well-known example, and many POR variants have been developed over the years. However, none of these can be used in the context of model checking stutter-sensitive temporal properties. We propose POR techniques for parity games, a well-established formalism for solving a variety of decision problems, including model checking. As a result, we obtain the first POR method that is sound for the full modal $$\upmu $$ μ -calculus. We show how our technique can be applied to the fixed point logic called parameterised Boolean equation systems, which pro…
