On the synthesis of functionalized porphyrins and porphyrin conjugates via β-aminoporphyrins
2016
International audience; The synthesis of functionalized porphyrins and their conjugates from meso-tetraarylporphyrins through the acylation and the oxidation of beta-aminoporphyrins was investigated. 2,3-Dioxochlorins were prepared by the oxidation of a variety of beta-aminoporphyrins and subsequently used in a condensation reaction with functionalized aromatic aldehydes and ammonium acetate to form beta-functionalized porphyrins bearing a fused imidazole ring. Under optimized experimental conditions both reactions tolerate various functional groups and afford the products in an appropriate overall yield. The mildness and usefulness of this methodology are illustrated by several examples in…
A mathematical approach to predict the solids concentration in anaerobic membrane bioreactos (AnMBR): Evaluation of the volatile solids solubilization
2020
[EN] Anaerobic Membrane Bioreactors (AnMBR) are gaining attention as a suitable approach for sustainable low-strength wastewater treatment, as they bring together the advantages of both anaerobic treatments and membrane bioreactors. However, increasing the sludge retention time (SRT) necessary to favor hydrolysis increases the suspended solids concentration potentially leading to decreased permeate flux. Therefore, the availability of a mathematical approach to predict the solids concentration within an AnMBR can be very useful. In this work, a mathematical model describing the volatile solids concentration within the reactor as a function of the operating parameters and the influent charac…
Halloysite Nanotube with Fluorinated Lumen: Non-Foaming Nanocontainer for Storage and Controlled Release of Oxygen in Aqueous Media
2014
Halloysite clay nanotubes were selectivity modified by adsorbing perfluoroalkylated anionic surfactants at the inner surface. The modified nanotubes formed kinetically stable dispersions due to the enhanced electrostatic repulsions exercised between the particles. We proved that the modified nanotubes can be used as non-foaming oxygen nanocontainers in aqueous media. The gas release from supersaturated dispersions can be controlled by external stimuli and system composition. In conclusion, we managed to put forward an easy strategy to develop smart materials from natural nanoclays, which can endow important applications like the storage and delivery of gas.
Conversion of the sensor kinase DcuS ofEscherichia coliof the DcuB/DcuS sensor complex to the C4-dicarboxylate responsive form by the transporter DcuB
2016
Summary The sensor kinase DcuS of Escherichia coli co-operates under aerobic conditions with the C4-dicarboxylate transporter DctA to form the DctA/DcuS sensor complex. Under anaerobic conditions C4-dicarboxylate transport in fumarate respiration is catalyzed by C4-dicarboxylate/fumarate antiporter DcuB. (i) DcuB interacted with DcuS as demonstrated by a bacterial two-hybrid system (BACTH) and by co-chromatography of the solubilized membrane-proteins (mHPINE assay). (ii) In the DcuB/DcuS complex only DcuS served as the sensor since mutations in the substrate site of DcuS changed substrate specificity of sensing, and substrates maleate or 3-nitropropionate induced DcuS response without affec…
Physicochemical Investigation of the Solubilization of Ytterbium Nitrate in AOT Reverse Micelles and Liquid Crystals
2006
A wide investigation of the solubilization of the water-soluble salt Yb(NO3)(3) in sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT) reverse micelles and AOT liquid crystals has been carried out. After saturation of water/AOT/organic solvent w/o microemulsions with pure Yb(NO3)(3), the Yb(NO3)(3)/AOT composites were prepared by complete evaporation under vacuum of the volatile components (water and organic solvent) of the salt-containing microemulsions. It was observed that these composites can be totally dissolved in pure n-heptane or CCl4, allowing the solubilization of a noticeable amount of Yb(NO3)(3) in quite dry apolar media. By UV-vis-NIR, FT-IR, and H-1 NMR spectroscopies, some informati…
On the Correlations Between Constitution and Scintillation Properties in the p-Oligophenylene Series
1968
Abstract The paper deals with the problem: What properties are requested from an organic scintillator solute and what structural principles are given to realize, or at least to influence them especially by looking at the p-oligophenylene series? According to their importance and also in respect to more or less special purposes one can distinguish the following sequence: 1) An organic scintillator solute must have a sufficient solubility in all types of solvents used for this counting method. As a result of extensive systematic studies substitution of larger alkyl groups has been recognized as a very effective principle of solubilization. By use of branched, particularly long-chain branched …
Halloysite Nanotubes for Cleaning, Consolidation and Protection
2017
Herein, we report our recent research concerning the development of halloysite based protocols for cleaning, consolidation and protection purposes. Surface modification of halloysite cavity by anionic surfactants was explored to fabricate inorganic micelles able to solubilize hydrophobic contaminants. Hybrid dispersions based on halloysite and ecocompatible polymers were tested as consolidants for paper and waterlogged archaeological woods. Encapsulation of deacidifying and flame retardant agents within the halloysite lumen was conducted with aim to obtain nanofiller with a long-term protection ability. The results prove the suitability and versatility of halloysite nanotubes, which are per…
Inverse-voltammetric determination of cadmium, lead and copper in animal samples after solubilization
1990
The conditions for the inverse-voltammetric determination of cadmium, lead, and copper in various biological samples after solubilization with Texapon are described. The results of this procedure are compared with those obtained with conventional high- and low-pressure wet digestions. The advantages of the Hg-film electrode as compared to the stationary Hg-electrode are discussed.
Direct inverse voltammetric determination of Pb, Cu and Cd in some edible oils after solubilization
1995
The direct determination of traces of certain heavy metals in oils is possible after treatment of the methanolic sample solution with Lumatom (tetramethylammoniumhydroxide). For the inverse voltammetric determination, a flow through cell with a mercury film electrode is used. The results for the determination of Cu and Pb in some edible oils after solubilization agree well with those obtained using wet oxidative high pressure ashing.
1993
Recent achievements in the field of micellar polymers, or «polysoaps» are described. Taking advantage of zwitterionic model polymers, systematic variations of the molecular architecture have provided an improved understanding of the relationship between the molecular structure of the polymers and their key properties such as surface activity and solubilization capacity. Useful rules are established, which take into account much of the previous data in the literature
