Monolithic stationary phases based on octadecyl acrylate for CEC using different initiating systems (UV irradiation, thermal, and chemical initiation) in the presence of lauroyl peroxide as initiator were synthesized. For each initiation mode, the influence of the porogenic solvent composition on both the morphological and electrochromatographic properties of the resulting monoliths was investigated. Chemical initiation for butyl and lauryl acrylate monolithic columns for CEC.

Butyl acrylate (BA)- and lauryl acrylate (LA)-based monolithic stationary phases for CEC were synthesized, using a redox system as initiator of polymerization. BA monoliths were initiated with ammonium peroxodisulfate, whereas LA columns were obtained with lauroyl peroxide as initiator. In both cases, TEMED was used to activate the process. Interfacially active block copolymer amphiphiles have been synthesized and their self-assembly into micelles in supercritical carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) has been demonstrated with small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). These materials establish the design criteria for molecularly engineered surfactants that can stabilize and disperse otherwise insoluble matter into a CO 2 continuous phase. High pressure strongly favors the highest-density polymorph Z of active pharmaceutical ingredient 2-(2,6-xylidino)-5,6-dihydro-4H-1,3-thiazine hydrochloride (xylazine hydrochloride, XylHCl) up to about 0.1 GPa only, but still higher pressure destabilizes this structure. Above 0.1 GPa, XylHCl preferentially crystallizes as solvates with CH2Cl2, CHCl3, or (CH3)2CHOH depending on the solvent used. However, when XylHCl·H2O is dissolved in any of these solvents, the high-pressure crystallizations yield the hydrate XylHCl·H2O only. Isobaric vapor–liquid equilibria (VLE) for the binary systems ethanol + 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide ([emim][DCA]) and water + [emim][DCA] as well as the VLE for the ternary system ethanol + water + [emim][DCA] have been obtained at 100 kPa using a recirculating still. Lymphocyte subpopulations in solvent-exposed workers.

To estimate the cellular immune response of workers highly exposed to mixtures of organic solvents, subpopulations of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) were analyzed. For this, the PBLs of nine floorers (aged 25–58 years, exposure time 8–35 years) were subsequently labelled with monoclonal antibodies OKT 4, OKT 8, OKT 11, anti-Leu 7 and anti-Leu 12. Analysis was made by a FACS IV cell sorter (Becton-Dickinson, USA). The control group consisted of matched pairs of healthy donors. Assessment of the cytotoxic potential of an aqueous-ethanolic extract from Thalassia testudinum angiosperm marine grown in the Caribbean Sea

Abstract Objectives Reported antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties for one aqueous-ethanolic extract from Thalassia testudinum which grows in the Caribbean Sea compelled us to explore about extract cytotoxic effects. Methods Cell viability was assayed on tumour (HepG2, PC12, Caco-2 and 4T1) and non-tumour (VERO, 3T3, CHO, MCDK and BHK2) cell lines. The extract effects upon primary cultures of rat and human hepatocytes and human lymphocytes were assayed. Cocaine abuse determination by ion mobility spectrometry using molecular imprinting

A cocaine-based molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) has been produced by bulk polymerization and employed as selective solid-phase extraction support for the determination of cocaine in saliva samples by ion mobility spectrometry (IMS). The most appropriate conditions for washing and elution of cocaine from MIPs were studied and MIPs were characterized in terms of analyte binding capacity, reusability in water and saliva analysis, imprinting factor and selectivity were established and compared with non-imprinted polymers.
