Modeling of the process of moisture loss during the storage of dried apricots

2011

[EN] Moisture content is a reference parameter for dried food because the growth of most microorganisms is inhibited below certain water activity levels. In addition, it has a determining influence on the evolution of important parameters, such as color and flavor, and on other properties and deterioration reactions, such as texture, oxidation processes and nutritional value. During the storage of some dried fruits, moisture is produced due to Maillard reactions and exchanged with the surrounding environment through the packaging. The evolution of dried foods during their shelf life depends on the storage conditions. The aim of this study is to analyze the evolution of the moisture content …

A combined computational and experimental study on the mild steel corrosion inhibition in hydrochloric acid by new multifunctional phosphonic acid co…

2020

Two triazole derivatives with phosphonic acid as pendent group, namely [3-(4-phenyl-[1–3]triazol-1-yl)-propyl]-phosphonicaciddiethylester (PTP) and [3-[4-(4-dimethylamino-phenyl)-[1–3]triazol-1-yl]-propyl]-phosphonic acid diethylester (DMPTP) were synthesized and fully characterized using NMR spectroscopy, Mass spectrometry, Infra-Red (FT-IR) spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The synthesized multifunctional heterocycles were investigated to inhibit the corrosion of mild steel in acidic solution HCl (1 M) by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and weight loss measurements. The results of the different corrosion measurement techniques are in goo…

Adsorption of CO and N 2 molecules at the surface of solid water. A grand canonical Monte Carlo study

2020

International audience; The adsorption of carbon monoxide and nitrogen molecules at the surface of four forms of solid water is investigated by means of grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations. The trapping ability of crystalline Ih and low-density amorphous ices, along with clathrate hy-drates of structures I and II, are compared at temperatures relevant for astrophysics. It is shown that, when considering a gas phase that contains mixtures of carbon monoxide and nitrogen, the trapping of carbon monoxide is favored with respect to that of nitrogen at the surface of all solids, irrespective of the temperature. The results of the calculations also indicate that some amounts of molecules can …

Design d'un iprodione-MIP (molecularly imprinted polymer) : application à la pré-concentration des fongicides dans le vin

2014

The aim of this study was the synthesis of a MIP (molecularly imprinted polymer) specific for a fungicide that is found in the majority of the french wine: iprodione. The challenge for extracting iprodione from wine medium was that the hydoralcoholic solution is a dipolar solvent, whereas the interaction between the MIP and iprodione is based on dipolar interactions. The first extraction study of iprodione was made on a MIP synthesized by bulk polymerization using methacrylamide and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA). The MIP was found to be more efficient than the NIP (non-imprinted polymer) in hydroalcoholic solutions which demonstrates that the molecular imprinting was successful. Th…

TCE adsorption on hydrophobic Y and MFI zeolites. Possibilities of using such materials for solvent recovery

1996

Adsorption properties of soluble surface active stilbazium dyes at the air-water interface

2007

The adsorption behaviour of a homologous series of amphiphilic hemicyanines is studied at the air-water interface. The dyes exhibit an unusual, marked odd-even effect with respect to the standard free energy of adsorption and the minimum surface area demand. The reasons for such strong, hitherto unknown odd-even effect is not yet clear.

Adsorption isotherms and thermal behavior of hybrids based on quercetin and inorganic fillers

2019

We investigated the adsorption process of quercetin onto several inorganic fillers, such as kaolinite, calcium carbonate and alumina. Firstly, we performed equilibrium adsorption studies in order to determine the quercetin/filler adsorption isotherms, which were successfully fitted through the Langmuir model. Based on the adsorption data analysis, we estimated the maximum adsorption capacity of each filler as well as the Langmuir constant, which is related to the affinity between quercetin and the surfaces of the inorganic particles. Then, we prepared hybrids formed by fillers saturated with quercetin. The obtained composites were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis with the aim of …

Biosorption of nickel (II) and zinc (II) from aqueous solutions by the biomass of yeast Yarrowia lipolytica

2017

Abstract This study examined the biosorption process of Ni(II) and Zn(II) from an aqueous solution by dead biomass of Yarrowia lipolytica. Optimum biosorption conditions were determined as a function of pH, biomass dosage, contact time, and temperature. The biosorbent was characterized by FTIR, which indicated the participation of hydroxyl, carboxyl, amide and amine groups in the process of binding the metal ions. The results showed that the biosorption processes of both metal ions closely followed pseudo-second order kinetics. The equilibrium data of Ni(II) and Zn(II) ions at 20, 30 and 40°C fitted the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. Langmuir isotherm provided a better fit to the …

Grape pulp, grape pips and their mixture: Novel substrates or supports for solid state fermentation

1997

Grape marc, comprising of grape pulp and grape pips, is generated in high quantities during ethanol production, but has no significant commercial value. The components of the grape marc, individually or in combination, can serve as substrate or support in solid state fermentation. The potential benefits of sieved fractions (800-3150 µm particle size) was, therefore, evaluated using Trichoderma viride, with or whithout enrichment. Based on sorption isotherm profiles, grape pulp showed the best performance, though its ability to promote biomass formation was the lowest. The latter could be improved by enrichment with glucose. It, thus, offers potential as a reusable support. Grape pips promot…
