White Paper on Governance: EU Attempt to Popularize Legal Discourse?

2015

Since the 1990s the discourse on the relationship between the EU institutions and member states in the field of European action has changed significantly and it has been increasingly supplemented by framework agreements between the actors involved in the Community dialogue. In this regard, the White Paper on Governance (Brussels, 25.7.2001 - COM(2001) 428final) contains a series of recommendations on how to enhance democracy in Europe and boost the legitimacy of the institutions. The aim is to modernize European public action in order to increase the accountability of European executive bodies to the elected assemblies and open up the Union's decision-making procedures to allow citizens to …

An Exploratory Analysis of Factors Associated with Health-Related Physical Fitness in Adolescents. The ASSO Project

2018

Monitoring physical fitness (fitness) and identifying, since the beginning, possible determinants in youth could be useful to preserve health and avoid morbidities in adulthood. The main objective of this study is to provide details on the fitness levels of a sample of adolescents living in the Southern area of Italy and describe its associations with biological/genetic, socio-cultural/environmental, and lifestyle (physical activity/sedentariness, alcohol/smoking, meal patterns/habits) factors. The study was conducted within the Adolescence Surveillance System for Obesity Prevention (ASSO) project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Health and examining adolescents&rsquo

Neo Open Innovation in the Digital Economy : Harnessing Soft Innovation Resources

2018

Successive increases in R&D that creates new functionality are essential for global competitiveness. However, unexpectedly, as a consequence of the two-faced nature of information and communication technology (ICT), excessive R&D results in a marginal productivity decline leading to a decrease in digital value creation. In order to overcome such a dilemma, global ICT firms have been endeavoring to transform themselves into disruptive business model. Neo open innovation that harnesses soft innovation resources may be a solution to this critical question. On the basis of an empirical analysis focusing on forefront endeavors to this dilemma by global ICT firms, this paper attempted to demonstr…

Masteroppgave psykisk helsearbeid ME504 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 Throughout our working carrier we have met youth who had dropped out from upper secondary school with that consequence that they stand without work or education. We wish to approach the phenomenon dropouts from the perspective of the youth, here boys, to try to find out more about how they think of their own possibilities. This study is part of a research project at the University of Agder and represents a contribution to the research group “Ung i Sør”. The purpose of this study is to increase understanding around how boys explain the causes behind their choice to dropout and what they express can contribute to returning t…

Discourse Matters : Localness as a Source of Authenticity in Craft Businesses in Peripheral Minority Language Sites

2015

Localness’ has gained currency as a source of authenticity and distinction in the niche marketing of the globalised new economy. This has created opportunities for peripheral minority language sites to capitalise on their geographically and culturally peripheral location, and has lifted tourism and handicraft industries to key sites of socio-economic development in these regions. Although ‘localness’ may seem like a ready source of economic gain in cultural production in such sites, it does not come without consequences for the cultural entrepreneurs. This paper explores what is at stake for cultural entrepreneurs in the promotion of localness as a source of authenticity. The study focuses …

Zasoby logistyczne w kształtowaniu i rozwoju modelu biznesu

2021

Firms are constantly looking for the ways leading to the competitive advantage creation. In the process of building such an advantage, an important role is assigned to the so-called „resource-based theory of the firm”, which is related to the „resource-based strategic management”. Within the resource-based strategic management, the firm resources are of the key importance in the competitive advantage creation. An important place among the firm resources is occupied by logistics resources, related to logistics understood as a concept of the materials, goods and information flow management. The aim of the study is to identify the possibilities of the logistics resources use in shaping a busin…

Experimental evidence on microwave induced electron losses from ECRIS plasma

2018

The balance between warm and hot (>1 keV) electron density and their losses from the magnetic confinement system of an Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS) plasma is considered to be one of the main factors determining the rate of the high charge state ion production. One of the key loss channels for heated electrons is thought to be induced by the injected microwaves. While this loss mechanism, referred to as rf-induced pitch angle scattering, has been studied theoretically and with computational tools, direct experimental evidence of its significance in minimum-B ECRIS plasmas remains limited. In this work, experimental evidence of microwave induced electron losses in the axial…

Influence of axial mirror ratios on the kinetic instability threshold in electron cyclotron resonance ion source plasma

2022

International audience; Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) ion source plasmas are prone to kinetic instabilities. The onset of the instabilities manifests as emission of microwaves, bursts of electrons expelled from the plasma volume, and the collapse of the extracted highly charged ion (HCI) currents. Consequently, the instabilities limit the HCI performance of ECR ion sources by limiting the parameter space available for ion source optimization. Previous studies have shown that the transition from stable to unstable plasma regime is strongly influenced by the magnetic field structure, especially the minimum field value inside the magnetic trap (Bmin). This work focuses to study the role o…
