Rydberg, valence and mixed states in the vertical spectrum of HF

2009

Abstract Size-consistent self-consistent multireference singles and doubles configuration interaction (SC)2–MR–SDCI, and linear response coupled cluster of singles and doubles including triples LR–CCSDR(3) methods, with a basis set of ANO’s augmented with a single series of molecular Rydberg functions, have been applied to the calculation of vertical excitation energies of HF in the 10–16 eV region. Special care has been put in the description of the valence, Rydberg and mixed states. Some advantage has been taken from the different physical contents of the methods to discuss some assignments. The (4,5) f Rydberg states of HF are predicted at 15.2 and 15.5 eV.

Dental management of patients with microstomia. A review of the literature and update on the treatment.

2015

Difficulty in dental management is one of the factors that characterize the patient that requires special care in dentistry. One of the clinical conditions that make dental treatment particularly complex is microstomia.Microstomia is defined as a small and insufficient oral aperture that will hinder diagnosis and dental treatment. Although there have been reports of patients with diseases and syndromes that cause microstomia, the available literature offers only a limited number of reviews on this topic. The aim of this paper is to present a review of the etiology, clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of microstomia. In addition, to describe the therapeutic adaptations to be ap…

Challenging behaviour, and staff responses to it, in residential environments for people with intellectual disability in Finland

2002

The frequency and severity of challenging behaviour in all 261 adult residents of a single special care district in Finland were assessed using the modified version of the Scales of Independent Behavior Problem Behavior Inventory. The results showed that 70% of the residents with intellectual disability exhibited challenging behaviour that was considered to be more than a mild problem by the staff. The incidence of dangerous behaviour was 10%. Some form of negative intervention (restraints, punishment or environmental restrictions) was used for 56% of cases in which challenging behaviour was exhibited. Punishment was the most common consequence for dangerous behaviour. The staff in the smal…

Dental treatment for handicapped patients: sedation vs general anesthesia and update of dental treatment in patients with different diseases

2013

Dental treatment on Handicapped Patients is often difficult because many people with a wide range of ages (from children to the elderly) with different pathologies that can affect the oral cavity and differ widely are included in this group. This situation creates some controversy, because according to pathology, each patient will be treated differently depending on collaboration, general health status, age or medication used to treat this pathologies. Ac - cording to this situation we can opt for an outpatient treatment without any kind of previous medication, a treat - ment under conscious or deep sedation or a under general anesthesia treatment. With this systematic review is intended to…

The atraumatic restorative treatment approach: an "atraumatic" alternative.

2009

Introduction: Fear and anxiety are part of all human experiences and they may contribute directly to a patient?s behavior. The Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART) is a technique that may be an alternative approach in treating special care patients or those who suffer fear or anxiety. Objective: the aim of this paper is to review the ART technique as an alternative to reduce pain and fear during dental treatment. Materials and method: A search for the term ?atraumatic restorative treatment? was carried out in the MEDLINE search engine. References, from the last 10 years, containing at least one of the terms: ?psychological aspects?, ?discomfort?, ?fear?, ?anxiety? or ?pain?, were selected…
