[Bis(phosphonio)isophosphindolide]silver complexes

1996

The outcome of reactions of bis(phosphonio)isophosphindolide salts 1[X] and 6[X] (X- Cl-, Br-, CF3SO3-) with silver salts AgY (Y- = CF3SO3-, CF3CO2-, CH3CO2-, 1/2 SO4-) depends strongly on the available anions X, Y. If X-, Y- CF3SO3-, both mononuclear and dinuclear silver complexes are formed which exhibit either μ1,μ1(P) or μ2,η1(P) coordination of the cations 1, 6 to one or to both metals. In solution, dynamic equilibria between both types of products and free 1, 6 were detected by 31P-NMR spectroscopy. Mononuclear (4a, 7) and dinuclear (5a, 8) complexes were isolated as solvates with CHCl3 or THF. If X-, Y- = CF3CO2, only equilibrium mixtures between the free ligands and silver complexes…

Substitution of the laser borane anti-B18H22 with pyridine: a structural and photophysical study of some unusually structured macropolyhedral boron h…

2018

Reaction of anti-B18H221 with pyridine in neutral solvents gives sparingly soluble B16H18-3',8'-Py23a as the major product (ca. 53%) and B18H20-6',9'-Py22 (ca. 15%) as the minor product, with small quantities of B18H20-8'-Py 4 (ca. 1%) also being formed. The three new compounds 2, 3a and 4 are characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses and by multinuclear multiple-resonance NMR spectroscopy. Compound 2 is of ten-vertex nido:ten-vertex arachno two-atoms-in-common architecture, long postulated for a species with borons-only cluster constitution, but previously elusive. Compound 3a is of unprecedented ten-vertex nido:eight-vertex arachno two-atoms-in-common architecture. The si…

Effect of Iodination on the Photophysics of the Laser Borane anti-B18H22: Generation of Efficient Photosensitizers of Oxygen

2019

Treatment of the laser borane anti-B18H22 (compound 1) with iodine in ethanol gives the monoiodinated derivative 7-I-anti-B18H21 (compound 2) in 67% yield, or, by reaction with iodine or ICl in the presence of AlCl3 in dichloromethane, the diiodinated derivative 4,4'-I2-anti-B18H20 (compound 3) in 85% yield. On excitation with 360 nm light, both compounds 2 and 3 give strong green phosphorescent emissions (λmax = 525 nm, ΦL = 0.41 and λmax = 545 nm, ΦL = 0.71 respectively) that are quenched by dioxygen to produce O2(1Δg) singlet oxygen with quantum yields of ΦΔ = 0.52 and 0.36 respectively. Similarly strong emissions can be stimulated via the nonlinear process of two-photon absorption when …

Nonanuclear Spin-Crossover Complex Containing Iron(II) and Iron(III) Based on a 2,6-Bis(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine Ligand Functionalized with a Carboxylat…

2016

The synthesis and magnetostructural characterization of [Fe(III)3(μ3-O)(H2O)3[Fe(II)(bppCOOH)(bppCOO)]6](ClO4)13·(CH3)2CO)6·(solvate) (2) are reported. This compound is obtained as a secondary product during synthesis of the mononuclear complex [Fe(II)(bppCOOH)2](ClO4)2 (1). The single-crystal X-ray diffraction structure of 2 shows that it contains the nonanuclear cluster of the formula [Fe(III)3(μ3-O)(H2O)3[Fe(II)(bppCOOH)(bppCOO)]6](13+), which is formed by a central Fe(III)3O core coordinated to six partially deprotonated [Fe(II)(bppCOOH)(bppCOO)](+) complexes. Raman spectroscopy studies on single crystals of 1 and 2 have been performed to elucidate the spin and oxidation states of iron …

Bowl-shape electron donors with absorptions in the visible range of the solar spectrum and their supramolecular assemblies with C 60

2012

We describe the synthesis, electronic, optical and photophysical properties of a family of three electron-donor bowl-shaped organic molecules that absorb light in the whole range of the visible spectrum (up to 800 nm in one case), and associate C60 in solution with binding constants in the range of 104–102 M−1 as measured from both UV-vis and fluorescence titrations in several solvents. These molecules are π-extended derivatives of tetrathiafulvalene, based on a truxene core to which two or three units of dithiole are covalently attached. The inclusion of the bulky dithiole groups is responsible for their bowl-shape geometry, which allows them to associate with C60, and their electron-donor…

Encapsulation of tetramethylphosphonium cations

2009

International audience; The weak interactions and capsule formation of tetramethylphosphonium (TMP) cation with resorcinarenes 1 and 2 and the corresponding pyrogallarenes 3 and 4 were studied in the solid state by single crystal X-ray diffraction, in solution by NMR and in the gas phase by mass spectrometry. In methanol-D4, the NMR titration studies reveal that the association constants for the 1:1 complexes of TMP@3 and TMP@4 are much higher (TMP@4:390±37 M-1) than for the corresponding TMP@1 and TMP@2 (TMP@2:130±10 M-1) complexes. In the gas phase both monomeric 1:1 TMP@1-TMP@4 complexes as well as the dimeric 1:2 capsule complexes, TMP@12-TMP@42 were observed. The 1:1:2 molar mixtures o…

Remote Control by π-Conjugation of the Emissive Properties of Fischer Carbene-BODIPY Dyads.

2016

The synthesis, structure, and complete characterization of mono- and bimetallic dyads joining Fischer carbene complexes and BODIPY chromophores are reported. In these organometallic species, the Fischer carbene complex is attached to the BODIPY moiety through a p-aminophenyl group linked at the C8 carbon atom of the BODIPY core. The photophysical properties, namely the corresponding UV/vis absorption and emission spectra of these new metal-carbene complexes, are analyzed and discussed. It is found that whereas the absorption of the considered dyads strongly resembles that of the parent 4-anilinyl-substituted BODIPY, the fluorescence emission is significantly reduced in these species, very l…

Cobalt Clusters with Cubane-Type Topologies Based on Trivacant Polyoxometalate Ligands.

2016

Four novel cobalt-substituted polyoxometalates having cobalt cores exhibiting cubane or dicubane topologies have been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, electrochemistry, UV-vis spectroscopy, X-ray single-crystal analysis, and magnetic studies. The tetracobalt(II)-substituted polyoxometalate [Co4(OH)3(H2O)6(PW9O34)](4-) (1) consists of a trilacunary [B-α-PW9O34](9-) unit which accommodates a cubane-like {Co(II)4O4} core. In the heptacobalt(II,III)-containing polyoxometalates [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(PW9O34)2](9-) (2), [Co7(OH)6(H2O)4(PW9O34)2]n(9n-) (3), and [Co7(OH)6(H2O)6(P2W15O56)2](15-) (4), dicubane-like {Co(II)6Co(III)O8} cores are encapsulated between two heptadentate [B…

Optimal Dynamic Portfolio Risk Management

2016

Numerous econometric studies report that financial asset volatilities and correlations are time-varying and predictable. Over the past decade, this knowledge has stimulated increasing interest in various dynamic portfolio risk control techniques. The two basic types of risk control techniques are: risk control across assets and risk control over time. At present, the two types of risk control techniques are not implemented simultaneously. There has been surprisingly little theoretical study of optimal dynamic portfolio risk management. In this paper, the author fills this gap in the literature by formulating and solving the multi-period portfolio choice problem. In terms of dynamic portfoli…
