Modelling resonant coupling between microring resonators addressed by optical evanescent waves

2004

In this paper we study the properties of microring resonator structures fabricated with high-index-of-refraction dielectric material. These structures concentrate light and can produce very strong optical potential gradients. They are of great interest for the trapping, manipulation and transport of cold atoms near surfaces. The study consists of two parts: in the first part we investigate the symmetry properties of the resonator response for simple models of the microring structures. In the second part we present detailed numerical calculations of the actual spectra for realistic microfabricated structures. We employ the direct space integral equation method (DSIEM). This method, based on …

The temperature dependence of vibronic lineshapes: linear electron-phonon coupling.

2014

We calculate the effect of a linear electron-phonon coupling on vibronic transitions of dye molecules of arbitrary complexity. With the assumption of known vibronic frequencies (for instance from quantum-chemical calculations), we give expressions for the absorption or emission lineshapes in a second-order cumulant expansion. We show that the results coincide with those obtained from generalized Redfield theory if one uses the time-local version of the theory and applies the secular approximation. Furthermore, the theory allows to go beyond the Huang-Rhys approximation and can be used to incorporate Dushinsky effects in the treatment of the temperature dependence of optical spectra. We cons…

Relative Transition Probability Measurements for Prominent Infrared Spectral Lines of NI

2002

Applying a high-current wall-stabilized arc operated either in helium or in argon always with some admixtures of nitrogen, relative transition probabilities for more than 100 individual spectral lines (fine structure components) have been measured. The studied lines belong mainly to the 3p–3d and 3p–4s transition arrays. Ten lines of the measured set are intersystem transitions. Our data are compared with other experimental results (for about one half of the studied set there are available), with evaluated on the basis of the LS coupling scheme, with semiempirical data, and with recent CIV3 calculations. Some of our results are compared also with experimental data for the next member of the…

Microscopic quasiparticle–phonon description of beta decays of 113Cd and 115In using proton–neutron phonons

2007

Abstract The fourth-forbidden non-unique ground-state-to-ground-state beta decays of 113 Cd and 115 In are calculated using a realistic microscopic two-body interaction and a realistic single-particle model space. To describe the involved initial and final nuclear states we introduce a proton–neutron variant of the microscopic quasiparticle–phonon model (MQPM), the proton–neutron MQPM (pnMQPM). The states of the pnMQPM are created by coupling quasiparticles with phonons of the proton–neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA). The computed half-lives and log f t values are found to be in excellent agreement with experimental data. Computed beta spectra of the decays are also …

Measurements of relative line strengths in N I multiplets for transition arrays 3s–np (n=3, 4, 5)

2008

Abstract Applying the emission method, intensities of 60 spectral lines of neutral nitrogen (N I) belonging to 15 multiplets originating from 3s–np (n=3, 4, 5) transition arrays have been measured. A wall-stabilized arc, operated at atmospheric pressure in helium with some admixture of nitrogen was applied as the excitation source. From measured line intensities, relative line strengths within multiplets have been evaluated. For transitions with Δn=1 and 2, significantly larger discrepancies from LS coupling results are found if compared to transitions 3s–3p (Δn=0). The measured relative line strengths within 3s–3p multiplets are compared with older measurements, recent calculations and wit…

Kerr Optical Frequency Combs With Multi-FSR Mode Spacing in Silica Microspheres

2021

We experimentally demonstrate Kerr optical frequency combs (OFCs) with mode spacing of 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 8 free spectral ranges (FSRs) corresponding to 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 2, 2.4, and 3.2 THz, respectively, in silica microspheres pumped by CW C-band lasers in the anomalous dispersion range. Experimental realizations are based on using standard telecom equipment and components such as SMF-28e fiber for producing microspheres and fiber tapers for pump coupling and OFC outcoupling. Numerical simulation is performed to support the experimental results and explain the observed spectral asymmetry in OFCs by the influence of the 3rd-order dispersion.

Vector anisotropic filter for multispectral image denoising

2015

In this paper, we propose an approach to extend the application of anisotropic Gaussian filtering for multi- spectral image denoising. We study the case of images corrupted with additive Gaussian noise and use sparse matrix transform for noise covariance matrix estimation. Specifically we show that if an image has a low local variability, we can make the assumption that in the noisy image, the local variability originates from the noise variance only. We apply the proposed approach for the denoising of multispectral images corrupted by noise and compare the proposed method with some existing methods. Results demonstrate an improvement in the denoising performance.

Radiation defects in undoped and Nd‐doped LaGaO 3 crystals

2005

Radiation induced defects have been studied in undoped and Nd-doped (6 mol% and 12 mol%) LaGaO3 crystals. Wide absorption band (2.2–2.8 eV) was observed after crystal irradiation with X-rays at 300 K. Induced defects have been annealed in air at ∼450 K. Similar absorption band was observed in transient absorption spectra after ns-pulsed electron beam excitation. The radiation defect creation efficiency is higher in undoped LaGaO3 crystal. It is shown that small concentration of Nd-doping increases the LaGaO3 crystal radiation hardness. In transient absorption spectra along with 2.7 eV band the absorption bands at 1.5 eV and 2.2 eV were observed. The decay process of transient absorption has…

EPR hyperfine structure of F‐type centres in pure LiBaF 3 crystal

2007

We studied EPR spectra of pure LiBaF3 sample of high quality. For EPR measurements LiBaF3 sample was X-irradiated at room temperature, however spectra could be observed at low temperatures - at 77 K. All hyperfine structure lines of F-type centre could be well resolved contrary to our earlier studies of Fe doped LiBaF3 crystal. Qualitative analysis with g-tensor parameters derived from magneto-optical measurements showed that the F-type centre observed earlier by MCD-EPR techniques is the same F-type centre we observe with the EPR. We analyse origin of the hyperfine structure of the EPR spectra and their angular dependencies and discuss the structure of F-type centres in the LiBaF3 crystal.…
