The simulation of synthetic images serve scientists and engineers to study the instrument configuration as well as to develop image processing and retrieval strategies for a sensor in development. Despite synthetic scene simulators have been developed in the past in the frame of satellite missions, their functionality and flexibility to create a user-defined scene is limited by their architecture, design and implementation. Eigenfunction expansions for time dependent hamiltonians

We describe a generalization of Floquet theory for non periodic time dependent Hamiltonians. It allows to express the time evolution in terms of an expansion in eigenfunctions of a generalized quasienergy operator. Open quantum systems can display periodic dynamics at the classical level either due to external periodic modulations or to self-pulsing phenomena typically following a Hopf bifurcation. In both cases, the quantum fluctuations around classical solutions do not reach a quantum-statistical stationary state, which prevents adopting the simple and reliable methods used for stationary quantum systems. Quantum dynamics by the constrained adiabatic trajectory method

We develop the constrained adiabatic trajectory method (CATM) which allows one to solve the time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation constraining the dynamics to a single Floquet eigenstate, as if it were adiabatic. This constrained Floquet state (CFS) is determined from the Hamiltonian modified by an artificial time-dependent absorbing potential whose forms are derived according to the initial conditions. The main advantage of this technique for practical implementation is that the CFS is easy to determine even for large systems since its corresponding eigenvalue is well isolated from the others through its imaginary part. Towards combined multispectral, FLIM and Raman imaging for skin diagnostics

To explore challenges for further improvement of diagnostic performance, a project aimed at development of technology for tri-modal skin imaging by combining multispectral, fluorescence lifetime and Raman band imaging was initiated. In this study, each of the mentioned imaging modalities has been preliminary tested and updated. Four different multispectral imaging devices were tested on color standards. Picosecond laser-excited fluorescence lifetime imaging equipment was examined on ex-vivo skin samples. Our work aimed to investigate the potential of remote sensing to provide new insights into plant photosynthesis at a fine spatial resolution. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operated spectral camera system for forest and agriculture applications

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has developed a Fabry-Perot Interferometer (FPI) based hyperspectral imager compatible with the light weight UAV platforms. The concept of the hyperspectral imager has been published in the SPIE Proc. 7474 and 7668. In forest and agriculture applications the recording of multispectral images at a few wavelength bands is in most cases adequate. The possibility to calculate a digital elevation model of the forest area and crop fields provides means to estimate the biomass and perform forest inventory. Applications of level shift corrected perturbation theory in electronic spectroscopy

Abstract Multiconfigurational second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2) with a level shift technique used to reduce the effect of intruder states has been tested for applications in electronic spectroscopy. The following molecules have been studied: formamide, adenine, stilbene, Ni(CO) 4 , and a model compound for the active site in the blue copper protein plastocyanin, Cu(Im) 2 (SH)(SH 2 ) + . The results show that the level shift technique can be used to remove the effects of the intruder states in all these molecules. D2hTDS-ST Software for Stark Spectrum Simulation of X2Y4 Asymmetric-Top Molecules

Abstract We present the D 2 h TDS-ST ( D 2 h -Top Data System for Stark effect) program suite with the aim to simulate Stark spectra of any IR active rovibrational polyad of X 2 Y 4 ( D 2 h ) asymmetric-top molecules. D 2 h TDS-ST consists in a series of FORTRAN programs called by scripts. For calculation of Stark spectra, we obtained the expressions of the dipole moment and polarizability operators of X 2 Y 4 molecules using a tensorial formalism. For convenience, we integrated the D 2 h TDS-ST programs into the D 2 h TDS package. Testing a portable laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy system on geological samples.

9 pages; International audience; This paper illustrates the potentialities of a home-made portable LIBS (laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy) instrument in Earth sciences, more particularly in geochemically recognizing (i) tephra layers in lacustrine sediments and (ii) fossilization processes in ammonites. Abundances for selected lines of Al, Ca, Fe, Ti, Ba and Na were determined in lacustrine chalk sediments of the Jura, where the Laacher See Tephra (LST) layer is recorded.
