[EN] FLEX (Fluorescence EXplorer) is a candidate for the 8th ESA’s Earth Explorer mission. Is the first space mission specifically designed for the estimation of vegetation fluorescence on a global scale. The mission is proposed to fly in tandem with the future ESA´s Sentinel-3 satellite. It is foreseen that the information obtained by Sentinel-3 will be supplemented with that provided by FLORIS (Fluorescence Imaging Spectrometer) onboard FLEX. FLORIS will measure the radiance between 500 and 800 nm with a bandwidth between 0.1 nm and 2 nm, providing images with a 150 km swath and 300 m pixel size. Abstract The Penning-trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP, located at the isotope-separator facility ISOLDE (CERN), is presented in its current form taking into account technical developments since 2007. Three areas of developments are presented. The reference ion sources have been modified to guarantee a sufficient supply of reference ions for mass measurements and systematic studies. Different excitation schemes have been investigated for manipulation of the ion motion in the Penning trap, to enhance either the purification or measurement process. Trace element data covering 96-7 ka BP from stalagmite CM (Santo Tomas Cave, Cuba)

We present a new speleothem trace element and stable isotope record, which extends previous paleoclimate evidence from Cuban speleothems to the last 96 ka. Stable isotope samples were micromilled at a resolution of 0.10-0.33mm, and measured using an IRMS equipped with a Gasbench. Line scans of Element/Calcium ratios of the speleothem were measured by laser ablation ICPMS and were reduced to the resolution of the stable isotope records.

The PANDA detector at the international accelerator Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe (FAIR) addresses fundamental questions of hadron physics. An excellent hadronic particle identification (PID) will be accomplished by two DIRC (Detection of Internally Reflected Cherenkov light) counters in the target spectrometer. The design for the barrel region covering polar angles between 22 deg. to 140 deg. is based on the successful BABAR DIRC with several key improvements, such as fast photon timing and a compact imaging region. Gamma Ray Spectrum from Thermal Neutron Capture on Gadolinium-157

International audience; We have measured the |$\gamma$|-ray energy spectrum from the thermal neutron capture, |${}^{157}$|Gd|$(n,\gamma)$|, on an enriched |$^{157}$|Gd target (Gd|$_{2}$|O|$_{3}$|) in the energy range from 0.11 MeV up to about 8 MeV. The target was placed inside the germanium spectrometer of the ANNRI detector at J-PARC and exposed to a neutron beam from the Japan Spallation Neutron Source (JSNS). Radioactive sources (|$^{60}$|Co, |$^{137}$|Cs, and |$^{152}$|Eu) and the |$^{35}$|Cl(|$n$|,|$\gamma$|) reaction were used to determine the spectrometer‘s detection efficiency for |$\gamma$| rays at energies from 0.3 to 8.5 MeV. Gamma Ray Spectra from Thermal Neutron Capture on Gadolinium-155 and Natural Gadolinium

Natural gadolinium is widely used for its excellent thermal neutron capture cross section, because of its two major isotopes: $^{\rm 155}$Gd and $^{\rm 157}$Gd. We measured the $\gamma$-ray spectra produced from the thermal neutron capture on targets comprising a natural gadolinium film and enriched $^{\rm 155}$Gd (in Gd$_{2}$O$_{3}$ powder) in the energy range from 0.11 MeV to 8.0 MeV, using the ANNRI germanium spectrometer at MLF, J-PARC. Dynamic stabilization of the magnetic field surrounding the neutron electric dipole moment spectrometer at the Paul Scherrer Institute

The Surrounding Field Compensation (SFC) system described in this work is installed around the four-layer Mu-metal magnetic shield of the neutron electric dipole moment spectrometer located at the Paul Scherrer Institute. The SFC system reduces the DC component of the external magnetic field by a factor of about 20. Within a control volume of approximately 2.5m x 2.5m x 3m disturbances of the magnetic field are attenuated by factors of 5 to 50 at a bandwidth from $10^{-3}$ Hz up to 0.5 Hz, which corresponds to integration times longer than several hundreds of seconds and represent the important timescale for the nEDM measurement. In the HARP experiment the large-angle spectrometer is using a cylindrical TPC as main tracking and particle identification detector. The momentum scale of reconstructed tracks in the TPC is the most important systematic error for the majority of kinematic bins used for the HARP measurements of the double-differential production cross-section of charged pions in proton interactions on nuclear targets at large angle. Observation and analysis of the SF6 ν2+ν4−ν5 band: Improved parameters for the v5= 1 state

Abstract In this paper, we present the high resolution analysis of the weak ν 2 + ν 4 - ν 5 band of SF6 around 735 cm−1. The spectra were recorded on the AILES Beamline at the SOLEIL Synchrotron facility using a cryogenic multipass cell coupled to a Bruker 125HR spectrometer with a maximum resolution of 0.00102 cm−1. For this band, we worked with 4 mbar of SF6 at a temperature of 223 ± 2 K. The optical path length was fixed to 141 m and the spectrum recorded with 0.001 cm−1 of resolution. A new, cold spectrum of the ν 2 + ν 4 band was also collected at 153 K, 15-m path length, and 0.0015 cm−1 resolution. Analysis of the rovibrational spectrum of 13CH4 in the Octad range

Abstract We have measured the infrared spectrum of methane 13 CH 4 from 1100 cm −1 (33 THz), below the fundamental range, to about 12 000 cm −1 (360 THz) in the high overtone region at temperatures ranging from 80 K to 300 K by high resolution Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. With instrumental bandwidths between 0.0027 cm −1 (80 MHz) and 0.01 cm −1 (300 MHz) this provides close to Doppler-limited spectra, using the Zurich prototype spectrometer (ZP2001, Bruker 125HR) combined with a multipath collisional cooling cell. Using perturbation theory and an accurate empirically adjusted potential we have computed ro-vibrational energy levels of 13 CH 4 and 12 CH 4 in the same energy…
