Preparation of dopaminergic N-alkyl-benzyltetrahydroisoquinolines using a 'one-pot' procedure in acid medium.

The preparation of N-methyl-BTHIQ (4) from N-phenylethyl-phenacetamide (1) by cyclization, reduction and N-alkylation in acid medium has been achieved in good yield in a 'one-pot' procedure. Acylation of imine (2) intermediate afforded the Z and E stereoselectivity in the enamide formation. 6-Hydroxy-BTHIQ (7) shows selectivity for D2 dopamine receptors, while its N-methylated homologue (8) displays higher affinities for both D1 and D2 receptor types, with an unexpected increase in D1 dopamine receptor affinity.

Cu2+and AMP complexation of enlarged tripodal polyamines

The synthesis, characterization, Cu2+ coordination and interaction with AMP of three tripodal polyamines are reported. The polyamines are based on the structure of the tetraamine (tren) which has been enlarged with three propylamino functionalities (TAL), with a further anthrylmethyl fragment at one of its terminal primary nitrogens (ATAL) or with naphthylmethyl fragments at its three ends (N3TAL). The protonation constants of all three polyamines show that at pH 6, all six primary and secondary nitrogen atoms in the arms are protonated. Diorganotin(IV) N-acetyl-L-cysteinate complexes: synthesis, solid state, solution phase, DFT and biological investigations.

Diorganotin(IV) complexes of N-acetyl-L-cysteine (H(2)NAC; (R)-2-acetamido-3-sulfanylpropanoic acid) have been synthesized and their solid and solution-phase structural configurations investigated by FTIR, Mössbauer, (1)H, (13)C and (119)Sn NMR spectroscopy. FTIR results suggested that in R(2)Sn(IV)NAC (R = Me, Bu, Ph) complexes NAC(2-) behaves as dianionic tridentate ligand coordinating the tin(IV) atom, through ester-type carboxylate, acetate carbonyl oxygen atom and the deprotonated thiolate group. Synthesis and Photodynamics of Fluorescent Blue BODIPY-Porphyrin Tweezers Linked by Triazole Rings

Novel zinc porphyrin tweezers in which two zinc porphyrins were connected with π-conjugated boron dipyrromethenes (BDP meso-Por(2) and BDP β-Por(2)) through triazole rings were synthesized to investigate the photoinduced energy transfer and electron transfer. The UV-vis spectrum of BDP β-Por(2) which has less bulky substituents than BDP meso-Por(2) exhibits splitting of the Soret band as a result of the interaction between porphyrins of BDP β-Por(2) in the excited state. Quantitative Raman spectroscopy as a tool to study the kinetics and formation mechanism of carbonates

We have carried out a systematic study of abiotic precipitation at different temperatures of several Mg and Ca carbonates (calcite, nesquehonite, hydrocalcite) present in carbonaceous chondrites. This study highlights the capability of Raman spectroscopy as a primary tool for performing full mineralogical analysis. The precipitation reaction and the structure of the resulting carbonates were monitored and identified with Raman spectroscopy. Raman spectroscopy enabled us to confirm that the precipitation reaction is very fast (minutes) when Ca(II) is present in the solution, whereas for Mg(II) such reactions developed at rather slow rates (weeks). Evaluation of nutritional parameters in infant formulas and powdered milk by Raman spectroscopy

It has been made a critical evaluation of the application of near infrared Fourier transform-Raman spectroscopy for the simultaneous determination of the most important nutritional parameters such as energetic value, carbohydrate, protein and fat contents of infant formula and powdered milk samples based on the use of partial least squares (PLS) regression analysis. A highly heterogeneous population of 23 samples, covering a wide range of infant food formula and powdered milk, were obtained from the Spanish market. Exceptional affinity of nanostructured organic-inorganic hybrid materials towards dioxygen: confinement effect of copper complexes

We report the exceptional reactivity towards dioxygen of a nanostructured organic-inorganic hybrid material due to the confinement of copper cyclam within a silica matrix. The key step is the metalation reaction of the ligand, which can occur before or after xerogel formation through the sol-gel process. The incorporation of a Cu(II) center into the material after xerogel formation leads to a bridged Cu(I)/Cu(II) mixed-valence dinuclear species. This complex exhibits a very high affinity towards dioxygen, attributable to auto-organization of the active species in the solid. Impact of the synergistic collaboration of oligothiophene bridges and ruthenium complexes on the optical properties of dumbbell-shaped compounds.

The linear and non-linear optical properties of a family of dumbbell-shaped dinuclear complexes, in which an oligothiophene chain with various numbers of rings (1, 3, and 6) acts as a bridge between two homoleptic tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) complexes, have been fully investigated by using a range of spectroscopic techniques (absorption and luminescence, transient absorption, Raman, and non-linear absorption), together with density functional theory calculations. Structural and spectroscopic study of the Br2...3-Br-pyridine complex by DFT calculations.

Abstract The structure and the Raman vibrational spectrum of the complex Br 2 ⋯3-Br-pyridine are determined by DFT calculations using different parametrizations. The calculations are performed taking into account the effects of the dichloromethane as solvent by the CPCM method. A value of 39 kJ mol −1 for the formation enthalpy and of 1 kJ mol −1 for the formation free energy at room temperature in presence of the solvent is found. The predicted Raman spectrum is compared with the experimental one and the essential features of the spectrum are well reproduced by the B3LYP parametrization.
