<title>High-frequency electrodeless light sources for application</title>

2001

The high-frequency electrodes light sources (HFELS) are widely used as bright radiators of narrow and intensive spectral lines covering spectral region from VUV to IR. In this work we shall give a short overview of our experience in preparation of HFELS, containing He, H, Rb, Hg, Zn, Pb, As, Sb, Bi, Tl, Hg-Cd, Hg-Zn, Hg-Cd-Zn, Se-Te for different applications. Special attention would be paid for HFELS use in Zeeman mercury analyzer, in Atomic absorption analyzer and Angle and glass refractive index measurement system.© (2001) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. Analysis of pattern recognition by man using detection experiments.

1981

This paper addresses the problem of analyzing biological pattern recognition systems. As no complete analysis is possible due to limited observability, the theoretical part of the paper examines some principles of construction for recognition systems. The relations between measurable and characteristic variables of these systems are described. The results of the study are: 1. Human recognition systems can always be described by a model consisting of an analyzer (FA) and a linear classifier. 2. The linearity of the classifier places no limits on the universal validity of the model. The principle of organization of such a system may be put into effect in many different ways. 3. The analyzer f…

Phase-Noise and Amplitude-Noise Measurement of DACs and DDSs

2019

This article proposes a method for the measurement of Phase Noise (PN, or PM noise) and Amplitude Noise (AN, or AM noise) of Digital-to-Analog Converters (DAC) and Direct Digital Synthesizers (DDS) based on modulation-index amplification. The carrier is first reduced by a controlled amount (30-40 dB) by adding a reference signal of nearly equal amplitude and opposite in phase. Then, residual carrier and noise sidebands are amplified and sent to a conventional PN analyzer. The main virtues of our method are: (i) the noise specs of the PN analyzer are relaxed by a factor equal to the carrier suppression ratio; and, (ii) the capability to measure the AN using a PN analyzer, with no need for th…

Modular Breath Analyzer (MBA): Introduction of a Breath Analyzer Platform Based on an Innovative and Unique, Modular eNose Concept for Breath Diagnos…

2021

Exhaled breath analysis for early disease detection may provide a convenient method for painless and non-invasive diagnosis. In this work, a novel, compact and easy-to-use breath analyzer platform with a modular sensing chamber and direct breath sampling unit is presented. The developed analyzer system comprises a compact, low volume, temperature-controlled sensing chamber in three modules that can host any type of resistive gas sensor arrays. Furthermore, in this study three modular breath analyzers are explicitly tested for reproducibility in a real-life breath analysis experiment with several calibration transfer (CT) techniques using transfer samples from the experiment. The experiment …

A new resonant Laser-SNMS system for environmental ultra-trace analysis: Installation and optimization

2017

Abstract Localization, analysis and mobility of radioactive contaminated particles is of major concern for assessment of contamination threads and nuclear forensics. For this purpose, a new resonant Laser-SNMS system was developed and set up at the Institute for Radioecology and Radiation Protection for spatially resolved ultra-trace analysis of low concentrated radionuclides directly on environmental samples. This paper describes the adaption and combination of a dedicated Ti:sapphire laser system with a commercial TOF-SIMS instrument for resonant Laser-SNMS. The project includes computer simulations for optimization of the TOF analyzer. Results on synthetic uranium and technetium samples …
