Two-Dimensional Orthogonal Wavelets and Wavelet Packets

2018

This chapter extends the design of spline-based orthogonal discrete-time wavelets and wavelet packets to two-dimensional case. The corresponding transforms are implemented by using the 2D FFT.

Signal detection for spread spectrum communication systems with gradient algorithm

2012

Retrieval process of original symbols of a spread spectrum based communication system is tried to be improved by Gradient Algorithm (GA) and Blind Source Separation (BSS) principles. Two simple schemes, based on two energy functions are presented. Time correlation properties of the channel are used as advantages in developing the filter coefficients for the receiver. Direct Sequence - Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) technique based system setup is used for algorithm testing purposes. This is identified as one of the most stable spread spectrum communication technique where most of the technologies developed for that are highly compatible with High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) transmis…

Interference excision algorithm for frequency hopping spread spectrum based on undecimated wavelet packet transform

2002

An algorithm for reducing narrowband interference effects in frequency hopping spread spectrum is presented. The method is based on the undecimated wavelet packet transform. It improves the performance obtained by other methods. Experimental results demonstrate the suitability of the algorithm.

Concentriols B, C and D, three squalene-type triterpenoids from the ascomycete Daldinia concentrica

2002

Abstract Three squalene-type triterpenoids named concentricols B, C and D ( 1 – 3 ) were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of fruiting bodies of the xylariaceous ascomycete Daldinia concentrica . Their absolute structures were elucidated by analysis of 2D NMR, MS, IR and UV spectra, and the modified Mosher's method.

Branched High Molecular Weight Glycopolypeptide With Broad-Spectrum Antimicrobial Activity for the Treatment of Biofilm Related Infections.

2017

There are few therapeutic options to simultaneously tackle Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, two of the most relevant nosocomial and antibiotic-resistant pathogens responsible for implant, catheters and wound severe infections. The design and synthesis of polymers with inherent antimicrobial activity have gained increasing attention as a safe strategy to treat multi-drug-resistant microbes. Here, we tested the activity of a new polymeric derivative with glycopolypeptide architecture (PAA-VC) bearing l-arginine, vancomycin, and colistin as side chains acting against multiple targets, which give rise to a broad spectrum antimicrobial activity favorably combining specific and n…

Laser desorption/ionization cluster studies for calibration in mass spectrometry

2003

Precise mass calibration is mandatory in many fields of mass spectrometry. We have performed laser desorption/ionization cluster studies with a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer on gold and fullerene targets to produce atomic clusters. These investigations demonstrate that clusters are ideally suited for this purpose. Pulsed N 2 -laser and Nd:YAG-laser ablation was used to produce positively as well as negatively charged clusters. Earlier observations of dianionic metal clusters are confirmed. First results from the tandem Penning trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP using carbon clusters as mass references show how carbon clusters can be applied to precision mass spectrometry by providing absolute ma…

New approach to numerical computation of the eigenfunctions of the continuous spectrum of three-particle Schrödinger operator: I. One-dimensional par…

2009

Basing on analogy between the three-body scattering problem and the diffraction problem of the plane wave (for the case of the short range pair potentials) by the system of six half transparent screens, we presented a new approach to the few-body scattering problem. The numerical results have been obtained for the case of the short range nonnegative pair potentials. The presented method allows a natural generalization to the case of the long range pair potentials.

Two-dimensional dye crystals with controllable optical properties

1993

The structure, molecular ordering and optical properties of single crystals of cyanine dyes grown by adsorption from a water subphase to a positively charged lipid monolayer are discussed. These crystals are one monolayer thick, of uniform dimensions between 10 and 100μm (depending on nucleation conditions) and of rectangular shape. Single crystals were studied by transmission electron diffraction and by polarized absorption and emission spectroscopy. We show that the crystals consist of two rows of densely stacked molecules with two different orientations of the long molecular axes. This leads to two perpendicularly polarized absorption bands. The measured splitting is in accordance with r…

Quadratic ${\mathcal P}{\mathcal T}$-symmetric operators with real spectrum and similarity to self-adjoint operators

2012

It is established that a -symmetric elliptic quadratic differential operator with real spectrum is similar to a self-adjoint operator precisely when the associated fundamental matrix has no Jordan blocks. This article is part of a special issue of Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical devoted to ‘Quantum physics with non-Hermitian operators’.
