A whole blood test to measure SARS-CoV-2-specific response in COVID-19 patients

Objectives To examine whether specific T-cell-responses to SARS-CoV-2 peptides can be detected in COVID-19 using a whole-blood experimental setting, which may be further explored as potential diagnostic tool. Abstract There is limited information on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) T‐cell immune responses in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19). Both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells may be instrumental in resolution of and protection from SARS‐CoV‐2 infection. Study of spindle-spike interactions: Features of basal ganglia control

Summary Changes in cortical spindle distribution following penicillin (PCN) injections were studied in feline generalized PCN epilepsy. PCN activation caused no substantial changes in spindle duration, frequency and intraburst frequency, while significant reductions in the amplitude of the negative waves were noted. At the same time combinations of spindle waves and epileptic complexes were recorded with one or more spikes randomly occurring at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of a spindle envelope. Components of after-hyperpolarization in magnocellular neurones of the rat supraoptic nucleusin vitro

The pharmacological sensitivity of hyperpolarizing components of spike train after-potentials was examined in sixty-one magnocellular neurones of the rat supraoptic nucleus using intracellular recording techniques in a brain slice preparation. 2. In 26 % of all neurones a slow after-hyperpolarization (AHP) was observed in addition to a fast AHP. In 31 % of all neurones a depolarizing after-potential (DAP) was observed. 3. Dentate spikes and learning : disrupting hippocampal function during memory consolidation can improve pattern separation

Hippocampal dentate spikes (DSs) are short-duration, large-amplitude fluctuations in hilar local field potentials and take place while resting and sleeping. During DSs, dentate gyrus granule cells increase firing while CA1 pyramidal cells decrease firing. Recent findings suggest DSs play a significant role in memory consolidation after training on a hippocampus-dependent, nonspatial associative learning task. Regularity of Spike Trains and Harmony Perception in a Model of the Auditory System

Spike train regularity of the noisy neural auditory system model under the influence of two sinusoidal signals with different frequencies is investigated. For the increasing ratio m/n of the input signal frequencies (m, n are natural numbers) the linear growth of the regularity is found at the fixed difference (m - n). It is shown that the spike train regularity in the model is high for harmonious chords of input tones and low for dissonant ones.
