The aim of this work is to estimate the variation over time of the spatial spillover effects of a public policy that was devoted to boost rural development in France over the period 1993–2002. At a micro data level, it is often observed that the dependent variable, such as local employment in a municipality, does not vary along time, so that we face a kind of zero inflated phenomenon that cannot be dealt with a classical continuous response model or propensity score approaches. Abstract The aim of this paper is to quantify the strength and the direction of semi-volatility spillovers between five EMU stock markets over the 2000–2016 period. We use upside and downside semi-volatilities as proxies for downside risk and upside opportunities. Bank fragility and contagion: Evidence from the bank CDS market

Understanding how contagion works among financial institutions is a top priority for regulators and policy makers who aim to foster financial stability and to prevent financial crises. Using bank credit default swap (CDS) data, we provide a framework for the evaluation of contagion among banks in different countries and regions during a period of prolonged financial distress. We measure contagion in terms of return spillovers, following a Generalized VAR (GVAR) approach. This article reviews research on the evolutionary mechanisms leading to different transmission modes. Such modes are often under genetic control of the host or the pathogen, and often in conflict with each other via trade-offs. Transmission modes may vary among pathogen strains and among host populations. Evolutionary changes in transmission mode have been inferred through experimental and phylogenetic studies, including changes in transmission associated with host shifts and with evolution of the unusually complex life cycles of many parasites. Abstract: This paper investigates the spatial dimension of the environmental effects. We use recent advances in spatial econometrics to show that hedonic equations produce estimates to be differently interpreted as implicit prices according to spatial models. In particularly, the i mplicit price of housing attribute combines a feedback effect and a propagation effect and may be interpreted in terms of local or global spillovers. Using an interdisciplinary approach, we empirically assessed the design of a network of northern MPAs where fishing for European lobster (Homarus gammarus) is prohibited. Este trabajo investiga, por primera vez en el caso colombiano, los efectos indirectos de los derrames de la inversión extranjera directa (IED) sobre las exportaciones de las empresas nacionales. A nivel empírico utilizamos una muestra de conveniencia formada por 32 empresas exportadoras, 14 filiales extranjeras y 18 empresas domésticas, las cuales mantuvieron continuidad en cerca de 60% del valor total de la oferta exportable nacional en el periodo de 2007 a 2016. Environmental spillovers and their impacts on housing prices: A spatial hedonic analysis

This paper investigates the spatial dimension of environmental factors on housing prices. We develop spatial hedonic models to estimate the implicit prices of various environmental attributes. The spatial dimension can be interpreted in terms of local or global spillovers. We conduct an empirical study in the Loire estuary (France). We focus on natural areas and more artificialized ones (ocean frontage, wetlands, rivers, and noisy roads). We show that, depending on the spatial model used, the implicit price is more than just the estimated coefficient value and combines both a feedback effect and a propagation effect.
Transport infrastructures, spillover effects and regional growth: evidence of the Spanish case

The impact of transport infrastructures on the economic growth of both regions and sectors, distinguishing among modes of transport, is analysed. An attempt is also made to capture the spillover effects associated with transport infrastructures. Two different methodologies are used: the first adopts an accounting approach based on a regression on indices of total factor productivity; the second uses econometric estimates of the production function.
