The locality of El Salt (Middle Paleolithic, Alcoy, Spain) is mainly known by having one of the youngest Neanderthals records of the southeastern Iberian Peninsula. In this work, we have analysed the herpetofaunal fossils from the upper part of stratigraphic unit Xb, dated at 52.3 ± 4.6 ka (MIS 3). The faunal list is composed by three taxa of anurans (Alyte obstetricans, Bufo bufo s.l., and Epidalea calamita), one taxon of blanid (Blanus cinereus s.l.), two taxa of lizards (Chalcides bedriagai and cf. Osteology and relationships ofEolacerta robusta, a lizard from the Middle Eocene of Germany (Reptilia, Squamata)

The osteology of the Eocene lizard Eolacerta robusta from Messel and Geiseltal is redescribed. Contrary to former opinions, Eolacerta does not possess body osteoderms, the pubis is typically lizard-like, the astragalus and calcaneum are fused, and the first cervical rib is distinctly curved posterolaterally. The suggestion that Eolacerta belongs to the modern family Lacertidae cannot be corroborated due to its many plesiomorphies and character incongruences, a view which is also supported by phylogenetic analysis. At present, Eolacerta cannot be assigned to any modern lizard family and is classified as Scleroglossa incertae sedis.

Abstract From the northern part of Chukotka Region (Russian Far East) and Nether-Polar Urals, one of the oldest and one of the most northerly occurrences of mosasaur remains in the world are recorded. The appearance of mosasaurs at high latitudes could be explained by the expansion of their habitat and an unusual balance of insolation. Polar day conditions could have been useful for marine predators such as mosasaurs because they could have hunted for prey at any time. Diet and helminth fauna were analysed in the lizard Gallotia atlantica (Squamata: Lacertidae), the smallest species of this genus endemic to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura (Canary Islands), in an attempt to confirm previous claims of relationships between these ecological traits in this genus. A total of 70 lizards belonging to the subspecies atlantica (central southern Lanzarote), laurae (northern Lanzarote) and mahoratae (Fuerteventura) were examined. Abstract We present a new purification procedure for the light-harvesting complex of Mantoniella squamata whereupon three-dimensional crystallization succeeded. Previous purification methods were based on density centrifugations as the only separating principle. We have extended this preparation procedure by applying anion-exchange and molecular-sieve chromatography techniques. The phylogenetic relationships among the wall lizards of the Podarcis hispanicus complex that inhabit the south-east (SE) of the Iberian Peninsula and other lineages of the complex remain unclear. In this study, four mitochondrial and two nuclear markers were used to study genetic relationships within this complex. The phylogenetic analyses based on mtDNA gene trees constructed with ML and BI, and a species tree using *BEAST support three divergent clades in this region: the Valencia, Galera and Albacete/Murcia lineages. The intestinal helminth community of the spiny-tailed lizard Darevskia rudis (Squamata, Lacertidae) from northern Turkey

AbstractPopulations of the lizard Darevskia rudis (Bedriaga, 1886) from northern Anatolia were examined for intestinal parasites in adult specimens. One cestode, Nematotaenia tarentolae López-Neyra, 1944 and four nematode species, Spauligodon saxicolae Sharpilo, 1962, Skrjabinelazia hoffmanni Li, 1934, Oswaldocruzia filiformis (Goeze, 1782) and Strongyloides darevskyi Sharpilo, 1976, were found. Three of these nematodes, S. saxicolae, S. hoffmanni and S. darevskyi are suggested to be part of a module in the network of Darevskia spp. and their parasites.
