The tumor-agnostic treatment for patients with solid tumors: a position paper on behalf of the AIOM- SIAPEC/IAP-SIBioC-SIF Italian Scientific Societi…
2021
The personalized medicine is in a rapidly evolving scenario. The identification of actionable mutations is revolutionizing the therapeutic landscape of tumors. The morphological and histological tumor features are enriched by the extensive genomic profiling, and the first tumor-agnostic drugs have been approved regardless of tumor histology, guided by predictive and druggable genetic alterations. This new paradigm of "mutational oncology", presents a great potential to change the oncologic therapeutic scenario, but also some critical aspects need to be underlined. A process governance is mandatory to ensure the genomic testing accuracy and homogeneity, the economic sustainability, and the r…
Physico-Chemical Stability of Admixtures of Vinflunine Used in Clinical Practice.
2021
Procedure of administration of vinflunine is complex and consists of an Y-site injection with fluid at different speeds. Dose is diluted with 100 mL of 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% glucose and infused with half of the 500 mL bag of the fluid over 20 min; after that, the remaining fluid is administered at 300 mL/h. In this study, chemical stability and physical compatibility of vinflunine diluted with in 500 mL of both fluids were evaluated to simplify the administration procedure (infusion of mixture on 20 min followed by 250 mL of fluid at 300 mL/h). Physical compatibility and chemical stability were evaluated at two temperatures and protected from and exposed to light. Physical compatibilit…
Soil quality indicators as affected by a long term barley-maize and maize cropping systems
2011
Most soil studies aim a better characterization of the system through indicators. In the present study nematofauna and soil structure were chosen as indicators to be assess soil health as related to agricultural practices. The field research was carried out on the two fodder cropping systems continuous maize (CM, Zea mays L.) and a 3-year rotation of silage-maize – silage-barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) with Italian ryegrass (R3) and grain-maize maintained in these conditions for 18 years. Each crop system was submitted to two management options: 1) the high input level (H), done as a conventional tillage, 2) the low input level (L), where the tillage was replaced by harrowing and the…
Link between microbial diversity, stability of microbial communities and soil organic matter turnover
2014
Soil microbial communities act as important agents of the biological soil functioning, particularly through their involvements in the transformations of biogeochemical cycles (C, N, P…). In agro-ecosystems, the diversity of these communities is affected by perturbations associated to agricultural practices, and the significance of these modifications in terms of preservation of biological functioning and sustainability of agricultural systems has emerged as a central issue in the environmental sciences. Whereas the role of biodiversity has been well studied for macroorganisms, in particular for plants; the biodiversity/activity relationship is still largely unknown for soil microorganisms. …
WAVES PROPAGATION AND LIQUID ALUMINUM PARTICLE INJECTION IN SOLID ROCKET MOTORS
2013
A method to determine the injection of aluminium particles from the solid propellant burning surface to the core of the chamber in the presence of an acoustic wave field is developed and aluminum-droplet effects on propagation of acoustic waves in the flow of a solid rocket motor are analysed. Changes of the multiphase flow compressibility are calculated by taking into account both the translational and the pulsational motions of the aluminum droplets in consequence of the acoustic waves.
ortho -Fluorination of azophenols increases the mesophase stability of photoresponsive hydrogen-bonded liquid crystals
2018
Photoresponsive liquid crystals (LCs) whose alignment can be controlled with UV-Visible light are appealing for a range of photonic applications. From the perspective of exploring the interplay between the light response and the self-assembly of the molecular components, supramolecular liquid crystals are of particular interest. They allow elaborating the structure-property relationships that govern the optical performance of LC materials by subtle variation of the chemical structures of the building blocks. Herein we present a supramolecular system comprising azophenols and stilbazoles as hydrogen-bond donors and acceptors, respectively, and show that ortho-fluorination of the azophenol dr…
Improvement of the photo-stability of polystyrene-block-polybutadiene-block-polystyrene through carbon nanotubes
2015
Abstract The photo-stability of Polystyrene-Polybutadiene-Polystyrene (SBS) based nanocomposites containing bare multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and carbon nanotubes bearing carboxylic functional groups (CNTs-COOH) in comparison to that of pristine SBS has been studied. The photo-oxidation of pristine SBS occurs through crosslinking reactions and oxidized species formation and both these processes begin at early stage of exposure. The formation of crosslinking, formerly in polybutadiene phase, assessed by spectroscopical (FTIR), mechanical, dynamic mechanical and rheological analysis, leads to occurrence of internal mechanical stresses in the solid state and the SBS samples become prem…
Numerical study of soliton stability, resolution and interactions in the 3D Zakharov–Kuznetsov equation
2021
International audience; We present a detailed numerical study of solutions to the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation in three spatial dimensions. The equation is a three-dimensional generalization of the Korteweg-de Vries equation, though, not completely integrable. This equation is L-2-subcritical, and thus, solutions exist globally, for example, in the H-1 energy space. We first study stability of solitons with various perturbations in sizes and symmetry, and show asymptotic stability and formation of radiation, confirming the asymptotic stability result in Farah et al. (0000) for a larger class of initial data. We then investigate the solution behavior for different localizations and rates of de…
Numerical study of blow-up and stability of line solitons for the Novikov-Veselov equation
2017
International audience; We study numerically the evolution of perturbed Korteweg-de Vries solitons and of well localized initial data by the Novikov-Veselov (NV) equation at different levels of the 'energy' parameter E. We show that as |E| -> infinity, NV behaves, as expected, similarly to its formal limit, the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation. However at intermediate regimes, i.e. when |E| is not very large, more varied scenarios are possible, in particular, blow-ups are observed. The mechanism of the blow-up is studied.
A microscopic monomeric mechanism for interpreting intrinsic optical bistability observed in Yb3+-doped bromide materials
2004
We present a mechanism able to show intrinsic bistable behaviour involving single Yb3+ ions embedded into bromide lattices, in which intrinsic optical bistability (IOB) has been observed. The mechanism is based on the experimentally found coupling between the Yb3+ ion and the totally symmetric local mode of vibration of the [YbBr6]3- coordination unit. The model reproduces the IOB observed in CsCdBr3:1% Yb3+ and allows to understand the experimentally found presence of the phenomenon in the other bromides, but its absence in Cs3Lu2Cl9:Yb3+.
