Structure Effect of Imidazolium-Based Dicationic Ionic Liquids on Claisen Rearrangement

2014

A large group of imidazolium-based dicationic ionic liquids (DILs) has been prepared in good yields. Thermal stability of all DILs has been determined. The effects of the reaction time, cation, imidazolium C2–H acidity, and anion on the Claisen rearrangement of allyl phenyl ether have been investigated. Type of anion and the presence of the acidic C2–H bond in the imidazolium moieties have proven to be essential for this reaction. The simple procedure and the possibility of avoiding the use catalysts and volatile organic solvents make this synthetic method environmentally benign and adaptable for large-scale applications.

Stability-Based Model Selection for High Throughput Genomic Data: An Algorithmic Paradigm

2012

Clustering is one of the most well known activities in scien- tific investigation and the object of research in many disciplines, ranging from Statistics to Computer Science. In this beautiful area, one of the most difficult challenges is the model selection problem, i.e., the identifi- cation of the correct number of clusters in a dataset. In the last decade, a few novel techniques for model selection, representing a sharp departure from previous ones in statistics, have been proposed and gained promi- nence for microarray data analysis. Among those, the stability-based methods are the most robust and best performing in terms of predic- tion, but the slowest in terms of time. Unfortunately…

Stochastic Stability Analysis for Markovian Jump Neutral Nonlinear Systems

2012

In this paper, the stability problem is studied for a class of Markovian jump neutral nonlinear systems with time-varying delay. By Lyapunov-Krasovskii function approach, a novel mean-square exponential stability criterion is derived for the situations that the system's transition rates are completely accessible, partially accessible and non-accessible, respectively. Moreover, the developed stability criterion is extended to the systems with different bounded sector nonlinear constraints. Finally, some numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

On the Calmness of a Class of Multifunctions

2002

The paper deals with the calmness of a class of multifunctions in finite dimensions. Its first part is devoted to various conditions for calmness, which are derived in terms of coderivatives and subdifferentials. The second part demonstrates the importance of calmness in several areas of nonsmooth analysis. In particular, we focus on nonsmooth calculus and solution stability in mathematical programming and in equilibrium problems. The derived conditions find a number of applications there.

Stability of genetic regulatory networks with time-varying delay: Delta operator method

2015

This paper investigates the stability problem for a class of uncertain genetic regulatory networks (GRNs) with time-varying delay via delta operator approach. Both the parameter uncertainty and the generalized activations are considered in the model under study. By constructing an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, the stability and robust stability conditions of GRNs are presented under the delta operator frame. These conditions can be expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is employed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

Robust Finite-Time Control of Switched Linear Systems and Application to a Class of Servomechanism Systems

2015

This paper investigates finite-time (FT) stability and stabilization problems for a class of switched linear systems with polytopic uncertainties. Both stable and unstable subsystems are considered to coexist in the system, and a new concept of extended FT stability is proposed as the first attempt. A stability criterion is first established, where the admissible maximum switching number is obtained while ensuring extended FT stability of switched linear systems with time-varying delays under a given maximum ratio between the running time of unstable subsystems and the running time of stable subsystems. Sufficient conditions on the existence of desired memory state-feedback controllers are …

How to untie G-quadruplex knots and why?

2021

International audience; For over two decades, the prime objective of the chemical biology community studying G-quadruplexes (G4s) has been to use chemicals to interact with and stabilize G4s in cells to obtain mechanistic interpretations. This strategy has been undoubtedly successful, as demonstrated by recent advances. However, these insights have also led to a fundamental rethinking of G4-targeting strategies: due to the prevalence of G4s in the human genome, transcriptome, and ncRNAome (collectively referred to as the G4ome), and their involvement in human diseases, should we continue developing G4-stabilizing ligands or should we invest in designing molecular tools to unfold G4s? Here, …

Furosemide assay in pharmaceuticals by Micellar liquid chromatography: study of the stability of the drug.

2000

A simplified high-performance liquid chromatographic procedure is described for the determination of furosemide (4-chloro-N-furfuryl-5-sulphamoylanthranillic acid), which makes use of UV detection, a C18, reversed-phase column, and micellar mobile phases of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and 1-propanol at pH 3 buffered with phosphate system. The most adequate experimental conditions to handle furosemide solutions in the analytical laboratory are studied. The mixture of furosemide and its degradation products which are formed upon light exposition was resolved with a mobile phase of 0.04 M SDS-2% propanol. Separation of furosemide from its common impurities and the hydrolytic product, 4-chlor…

Construction and stability of a close-packed structure observed in thin colloidal crystals

2007

We have characterized a close-packed structure of confined charged colloidal spheres, which has been recently discovered. Using different microscopy experiments, the vertically arranged hexagonal planes of n - hcp perpendicular are found to continuously evolve from the horizontally oriented stacks of n hexagonal planes (nDelta) following the maximum packing criterion, but discontinuously transform to a stack of n+1 square planes [(n+1)[SHAPE OF A SQUARE]]. Large mechanically stable domains with threefold twin structures are regularly observed in the suspended state at packing fractions between 0.4 and 0.58.
