This paper analyzes the effect of different storage methods on the transparency of pig crystalline lens. Methods: A spectral transmission curve (from 220 to 780 nm) for the crystalline lens was determined experimentally after storage in different conditions: saline solution, formalin, castor oil, and freezing at -80°C. The present article discusses the Soviet reception of Humboldt’s linguistic ideas, focusing on different interpretations of his ideas during the period between the latter half of the 1920s and the early 1950s. While Humboldt’s idea of the inner form of language was an important ingredient in Shpet’s phenomenology, the attitude towards Humboldt changed radically in the late 1920s and early 1930s when the ‘bolshevization’ of the sciences had reached linguistics. The idea that language, nation, and culture are closely interconnected was at odds with the ‘Marxist’ idea of class-language, according to which linguistic diversity derives from the socio-economic characteristics of societies. Refractive lens exchange with a multifocal diffractive aspheric intraocular lens

PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety, efficacy and predictability after refractive lens exchange with multifocal diffractive aspheric intraocular lens implantation. METHODS: Sixty eyes of 30 patients underwent bilateral implantation with AcrySof® ReSTOR® SN6AD3 intraocular lens with +4.00 D near addition. Patients were divided into myopic and hyperopic groups. Monocular best corrected visual acuity at distance and near and monocular uncorrected visual acuity at distance and near were measured before and 6 months postoperatively. Cette «continuité» serait en grande partie assurée par la langue dite nationale. Plusieurs éléments «révolutionnaires-conservateurs» du texte de Staline font penser à la métaphore de l’«Allemagne russe» comme à l’une de ses sources conceptuelles.

The article analyses the course of the May Day celebrations in Opole Silesia. Starting early in the morning on the Labourer's Day, propaganda slogans and reports of accomplished May Day actions were broadcast, and delegates from various workplaces, organisations and institutions gathered in order to participate in the manifestations. The main culminating point of the celebration agenda was the parade which set off after speeches delivered by the representatives of the party authorities. The parades were organised in all of the cities and all the commune centres. The parade in Opole had the largest number of participants in the region - in 1955, it gathered 50,000 people. Aside from the official part of the celebrations, Labour Day included the entertainment part as well. In the afternoon of the lst of May numerous art and sport events, as well as games, lotteries etc. were organised in Opole and in other major localities of the voivodeship. These were received with acclamation by the community, and they noted considerable turnout. For that day the authorities arranged sale of products that were difficult to purchase on a daily basis, which constituted one more attraction of May Day celebrations.
