Sustainable forest management has reached a common understanding between scientific and technical definitions. A series of criteria and indicators have been implemented for monitoring the effectiveness of the management in functional and structural terms, and to evaluate its effects on ecosystem services of forests. Summary In the monogeneric family Ctenolophonaceae extrastaminal discs are developed, whose parenchyma and marginally stomata bearing epidermis appear to be adenoid. The discs are extensively vascularized by phloematic branches derived from bundles of the adnate stamens. The flowers are unshowy, simply constructed and without special nectar protecting structures. Pollinators are still unknwon, but nectar-exploiting bees and flies probably predominate. The Ctenolophonaceae are closely connected with Humiriaceae. Presumed affinities with Malpighiaceae are questioned.
The impact of winter flooding with saline water on foliar carbon uptake and the volatile fraction of leaves and fruits of lemon (Citrus limon) trees

We investigated the consequences of recurrent winter flooding with saline water on a lemon (Citrus × limon (L.) Burm.f.) orchard, focussing on photosynthesis limitations and emission of secondary metabolites (isoprenoids) from leaves and fruits. Measurements were carried out immediately after flooding (December), at the end of winter (April) and after a dry summer in which plants were irrigated with optimal quality water (September). Photosynthesis was negatively affected by flooding. The effect was still visible at the end of winter, whereas the photosynthetic rate was fully recovered after summer, indicating an unexpected resilience capacity of flooded plants. En 1731 vieron la luz las Empresas Políticas Militares de Juan Antonio Pozuelo, manual de conducta ejemplar para el estamento militar en el ejercicio de su profesión. El libro está compuesto por 55 empresas que se ajustan a la característica disposición tripartita del emblema. En su recorrido por las virtudes y vicios que debe tener presente el militar, el autor se sirve continuamente de motivos que gozan de tradición emblemática, claro ejemplo del agotamiento del género.
