Search for squarks and gluinos with the ATLAS detector in final states with jets and missing transverse momentum using4.7 fb−1ofs=7 TeVproton-proto…
2013
A search for squarks and gluinos in final states containing jets, missing transverse momentum and no high-p(T) electrons or muons is presented. The data represent the complete sample recorded in 2011 by the ATLAS experiment in 7 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, with a total integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1). No excess above the Standard Model background expectation is observed. Gluino masses below 860 GeV and squark masses below 1320 GeV are excluded at the 95% confidence level in simplified models containing only squarks of the first two generations, a gluino octet and a massless neutralino, for squark or gluino masses below 2 TeV, respectively. Squarks and glui…
Signatures of Spontaneous Breaking of R-Parity in Gluino Cascade Decays at LHC
1996
We study the pattern of gluino cascade decays in a class of supersymmetric models where R-parity is spontaneously broken. We give a detailed discussion of the R-parity violating decays of the lightest neutralino, the second lightest neutralino and the lightest chargino. The multi-lepton and same-sign dilepton signal rates expected in these models are compared with those predicted in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We show that these rates can be substantially enhanced in broken R-parity models.
Search for supersymmetry in final states with jets, missing transverse momentum and one isolated lepton ins=7 TeVpp collisions using1 fb−1of ATLAS …
2012
We present an update of a search for supersymmetry in final states containing jets, missing transverse momentum, and one isolated electron or muon, using 1.04 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s =7 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in the first half of 2011. The analysis is carried out in four distinct signal regions with either three or four jets and variations on the (missing) transverse momentum cuts, resulting in optimized limits for various supersymmetry models. No excess above the standard model background expectation is observed. Limits are set on the visible cross section of new physics within the kinematic requirements of the search. The results are inter…
Four-jet final state production in $e^+ e^-$ collisions at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 130 to 184 GeV
1998
The four jet topology is analysed in the ALEPH data taken between November 1995 and November 1997, at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 130 to 184 GeV. While an unexpected accumulation of events with a dijet mas sum around 105 GeV/c**2 had been observed during the first run in 1995 at 130/136 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 pb-1, no significant differences between data and standard model prediction is noticed, either in the high energy runs (81.1 pb-1 taken at centre-of-mass energies from 161 to 184 GeV) or in the 7.1 pb-1 recorded during a new short run at 130/136 GeV in 1997. We have found no other explanation for the earlier reported ``four jet anomaly'' than a s…
New Higgs Signatures in Supersymmetry with Spontraneously Broken R Parity"
1992
Higgs production from $Z$ decay in supersymmetry with spontaneous broken R parity proceeds mostly by the Bjorken process as in the standard model. However, the corresponding production rates can be weaker than in the standard model (SM), especially in the low mass region. This will substantially weaken the Higgs boson mass limits derived from LEP1. More strikingly, the main Higgs decay channel is "invisible", over most of the mass range accessible to LEP1, leading to events with large missing energy carried by majorons. This possibility should be taken into account in the planning of Higgs boson search strategies not only at LEP but also at high energy supercolliders.
A measurement of the ratio of the W and Z cross sections with exactly one associated jet in pp collisions at with ATLAS
2012
The ratio of production cross sections of the W and Z bosons with exactly one associated jet is presented as a function of jet transverse momentum threshold. The measurement has been designed to ma ...
Search for the Higgs boson in the H→WW→ℓνjj decay channel at s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
2012
A search for the Standard Model Higgs boson has been performed in the H→WW→lνjj channel using 4.7 fb^(−1) of pp collision data recorded at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Higgs boson candidates produced in association with zero, one or two jets are included in the analysis to maximize the acceptance for both gluon fusion and weak boson fusion Higgs boson production processes. No significant excess of events is observed over the expected background and limits on the Higgs boson production cross section are derived for a Higgs boson mass in the range 300 GeV<m_H<600 GeV. The best sensitivity is reached for m_H=400 GeV, where the obse…
CP violation and limits on New Physics including recent B-s measurements
2007
We analyse present constraints on the SM parameter space and derive, in a model independent way, various bounds on New Physics contributions to $B_d^0$--$\bar B_d^0$ and $B_s^0$--$\bar B_s^0$ mixings. Our analyses include information on a large set of asymmetries, leading to the measurement of the CKM phases $\gamma$ and $\bar\beta$, as well as recent data from D0 and CDF related to the $B_s^0$--$\bar B_s^0$ system such as the measurement of $\Delta M_{B_s}$, $A_{SL}$ and $\Delta\Gamma_{s}^{CP}$. We examine in detail several observables such as the asymmetries $A_{sl}^d$, $A_{SL}$, the width differences $\Delta\Gamma_{d}$ and $\Delta\Gamma_{s}^{CP}$ and discuss the r\^ole they play in estab…
Precision measurements of B(D+→μ+νμ), the pseudoscalar decay constant fD+, and the quark mixing matrix element |Vcd|
2014
We report a measurement of the branching fraction B(D+ -> mu(+)nu(mu)) = [3.71 +/- 0.19(stat) +/- 0.06(sys)] x 10(-4) based on 2.92 fb(-1) of data accumulated at root s = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. This measurement, in conjunction with the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element vertical bar V-cd vertical bar determined from a global Standard Model fit, implies a value for the weak decay constant f(D+) = (203.2 +/- 5.3 +/- 1.8) MeV. Additionally, using this branching fraction measurement together with a lattice QCD prediction for f(D+), we find vertical bar V-cd vertical bar 0.2210 +/- 0.0058 +/- 0.0047. In either case, these are the most precise results for…
Search for the decay of aB0orB¯0meson toK¯*0K0orK*0K¯0
2006
We present a search for the decay of a B0 or B0bar meson to a K*0bar K0 or K*0 K0bar final state, using a sample of approximately 232 million BBbar events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric energy e+e- collider at SLAC. The measured branching fraction is B(B0 --> K*0bar K0) + B(B0 --> K*0 K0bar) = (0.2+0.9-0.8+0.1-0.3)x 10-6. We obtain the following upper limit for the branching fraction at 90% confidence level: B(B0 --> K*0bar K0) + B(B0 --> K*0 K0bar) phi K0 from sin(2beta).
