A Lactobacillus plantarum strain was used for the production of rye, wheat, barley, and oat sourdoughs, and the influence of different sourdoughs on mixed rye–wheat bread quality parameters and acrylamide formation was evaluated. L. plantarum LUHS135 demonstrated versatile carbohydrate metabolism, good growth and acidification rates, and the ability to excrete amylolytic and proteolytic enzymes in various cereal sourdoughs. The same starter and different cereal substrates allow to produce sourdoughs showing different characteristics. Background and Aims Oenococcus oeni is the lactic acid bacteria species that best adapts to harsh wine conditions. This species is currently the main component of the malolactic starter cultures used in winemaking. Other species of lactic acid bacteria, however, such as Lactobacillus, can also conduct the malolactic fermentation, especially in low acidity wines. De novo transcriptome assembly of a facultative parasitic nematode Pelodera (syn. Rhabditis) strongyloides

Pelodera strongyloides is a generally free-living gonochoristic facultative nematode. The whole genomic sequence of P. strongyloides remains unknown but 4 small subunit ribosomal RNA (ssrRNA) gene sequences are available. This project launched a de novo transcriptome assembly with 100 bp paired-end RNA-seq reads from normal, starved and wet-plate cultured animals. Trinity assembly tool generated 104,634 transcript contigs with N50 contig being 2195 bp and average contig length at 1103 bp. Dietary restrictions, including fasting (or long-term starvation), calorie restriction (CR), and short-term starvation (STS), are considered a strong rationale that may protect against various diseases, including age-related diseases and cancer. Wheat malt is a traditional brewing raw material with great potential to improve beer properties such as mouthfeel, foam, haze, and flavour. Motivations for Business Start-up: Are There any Differences Between Disabled and Non-disabled Microfinance Clients?

We use an Ecuadorian sample to investigate if there are differences in motivations for business start-up between persons with and without disabilities. Generally, we do not document significant differences. The reason might be that we use a sample selected among customers of the microfinance bank Banco D-MIRO.
