Debaryomyces hansenii is a yeast widely used in meat fermentations as starter for the purpose of improving the aromatic quality of the final product. However, it has not been the subject of an extensive study regarding phenotypic characteristics important for starter selection, such as the capacity to grow at abiotic stress conditions occurring during fermentation, the ability to generate desirable aromas and the absence of virulence traits in yeasts.

In the last decade, planetary science researchers have obtained significant advances on the origin and evolution of life on Earth. The increasing resolution and the development of new instruments (as space telescopes and adaptative optics) has provided first detailed images on protoplanetary disks and star formation regions. Moreover, in the last few years, doppler spectroscopic technique has confirmed the presence of extrasolar planets. These evidence shows planetary formation as a continuous and very common process in the Cosmos, indicating that our Solar System is not too special as was suggested in the past.

Abstract In this paper a knowledge acquisition and management system (KAMS) which allows the collection, analysis, ordering and storage of informations generated at starch liquefaction was developed. KAMS was structured on three levels: PostgreSQL as a backend, D2RQ as middle tier and Seaside as frontend. The system was used to store knowledge about the liquefaction process with the goal to be used as a decision support system in chosing the condition for this operation. Currently, the Palaearctic genus Emblethis Fieber, 1860 comprises 29 species (Pericart 2001). Up to date, the 5 th instars were known only for five species representing this genus, i.e., E . ciliatus Horvath, E . verbasci (Fabricius), E . griseus (Wolff), E . denticollis Horvath, and E . minutus Kiritshenko— descriptions and keys for their identification were provided by Putshkov (1969), and Pericart (1999).

El objetivo del estudio consistió en analizar, en una muestra formada por 506 entrenadores, sus percepciones de: satisfacción de necesidades, percepción de utilidad, motivación autodeterminada, y promoción del bienestar de sus deportistas, así como las diferencias en función del sexo, edad y tipo de deporte. The LIGO Scientific and Virgo Collaborations have announced the first detection of gravitational waves from the coalescence of two neutron stars. The merger rate of binary neutron stars estimated from this event suggests that distant, unresolvable binary neutron stars create a significant astrophysical stochastic gravitational-wave background. The binary neutron star background will add to the background from binary black holes, increasing the amplitude of the total astrophysical background relative to previous expectations. Quantitation of talinolol in rat plasma by LC-MS-MS.

The aim of this study was to develop and validate an assay based on liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry to quantitate talinolol in rat plasma. After a simple protein precipitation step, separation was performed by reversed-phase liquid chromatography using gradient elution with acetonitrile-water-formic acid. Electrospray ionization in the positive ion mode with multiple reaction monitoring was used to analyze talinolol employing propranolol as internal standard. The calibration curve for talinolol was linear over the concentration range 1-250 ng/mL with a correlation coefficient0.995.
