Web Usage Mining and Website Effectiveness

Nel seguente articolo sono state utilizzate tecniche di Usage Mining al fine di valutare l’efficacia del website di un’azienda di ricettività turistica distinguendo tra comportamento di navigazione di utenti PC e utenti mobile. I risultati ottenuti hanno evidenziato problematiche relative alla progettazione del sito in questione. Using usage mining techniques, the study explores the effectiveness of a tourism business website focussing on the differences between desk and mobile user browsing behaviour. Results indicate important direction for a rethink of the website design.
Customer Value Framework and Recommendation Intention: The Moderating Role of Customer Characteristics in an Online Travel Community

The aim of this study was to develop and test a model that examined the interactions among the customer value framework, recommendation intention and customer characteristics in an online travel community (OTC). Data were obtained using Amazon Mechanical Turk from 251 members of an OTC as a sample. The partial least squares method was used to analyse the data. We found that all the variables of the customer value framework, including functional value, hedonic value and social value, were positively related to recommendation intention. The aims of this three-wave longitudinal study were to identify and describe trajectories of perceived emotional support from teachers and investigate whether these trajectories were related to the development of intentions to quit upper secondary school via change in perceived mastery climate. Among 1379 Norwegian upper secondary school students, three trajectory subgroups were identified: stable high (84.9%), decreasing (7.8%), and low increasing (7.3%). The subgroups differed in levels of achievement ambition and academic self-concept. The current study applied the trans-contextual model to study the motivational predictors of participation in science learning activities in secondary-school students . This paper presents a novel approach and a method of learning analytics to study student agency in higher education. Agency is a concept that holistically depicts important constituents of intentional, purposeful, and meaningful learning. Within workplace learning research, agency is seen at the core of expertise. Simultaneous polarization attraction and Raman amplification of a light beam in optical fibers

International audience; In this paper, we demonstrate that it is possible to combine both Raman amplification and polarization attraction of a signal wave in a single optical fiber by means of a counterpropagating scheme. Experiments were performed near 1550 nm in a continuous wave regime and by means of a 10 Gbit ∕ s return-to-zero signal injected in a 20 kmlong low polarization mode dispersion optical fiber. Complete repolarization and 6.7 dB amplification of the signal wave was achieved by injecting a 850 mW, 1480 nm counterpropagating polarized pump wave.
