Correlation of pharmacological properties of a group of beta-blocker agents by molecular topology.

1995

Abstract The molecular connectivity method has been applied to the study of pharmacological properties, among which are found the angor treatment dose, α-distribution half-life and intravenous LD50 in mouse, of a group of β-blocker agents, verifying its application in the prediction of theoretic values for said pharmacological properties. To do this, the obtained multiple regression functions of the corresponding connectivity indices were used in relation with the experimental values of the properties, which are accompanied by the statistical parameters used in their selection criteria, as well as the corresponding random and cross-validation studies of said functions, which corroborate the…

QSAR Analysis of Hypoglycemic Agents Using the Topological Indices

2001

The molecular topology model and discriminant analysis have been applied to the prediction of some pharmacological properties of hypoglycemic drugs using multiple regression equations with their statistical parameters. Regression analysis showed that the molecular topology model predicts these properties. The corresponding stability (cross-validation) studies performed on the selected prediction models confirmed the goodness of the fits. The method used for hypoglycemic activity selection was a linear discriminant analysis (LDA). We make use of the pharmacological distribution diagrams (PDDs) as a visualizing technique for the identification and selection of new hypoglycemic agents, and we …

Sequentially Forecasting Economic Indices Using Mixture Linear Combinations of EP Distributions

2021

This article displays an application of the statistical method moti- vated by Bruno de Finetti's operational subjective theory of probability. We use exchangeable forecasting distributions based on mixtures of linear com- binations of exponential power (EP) distributions to forecast the sequence of daily rates of return from the Dow-Jones index of stock prices over a 20 year period. The operational subjective statistical method for comparing distributions is quite different from that commonly used in data analysis, because it rejects the basic tenets underlying the practice of hypothesis test- ing. In its place, proper scoring rules for forecast distributions are used to assess the values o…

Relations frequency hypermatrices in mutual, conditional and joint entropy-based information indices.

2012

Graph-theoretic matrix representations constitute the most popular and significant source of topological molecular descriptors (MDs). Recently, we have introduced a novel matrix representation, named the duplex relations frequency matrix, F, derived from the generalization of an incidence matrix whose row entries are connected subgraphs of a given molecular graph G. Using this matrix, a series of information indices (IFIs) were proposed. In this report, an extension of F is presented, introducing for the first time the concept of a hypermatrix in graph-theoretic chemistry. The hypermatrix representation explores the n-tuple participation frequencies of vertices in a set of connected subgrap…

Comparison of different theory models and basis sets in the calculation of 13C NMR chemical shifts of natural products.

2004

The influence of the calculation method in mimicking experimental 13C NMR chemical shifts of 15 low-polarity natural products singularly containing 10–20 carbon atoms was investigated by employing different quantum chemistry approaches and basis sets, both in the preliminary geometry optimizations and in the following single-point 13C GIAO calculations of the NMR chemical shifts. The geometries of the involved species were optimized at the PM3, HF, B3LYP and mPW1PW91 levels whereas the 13C NMR parameters were determined at the HF, B3LYP and mPW1PW91 levels. Different combinations of basis sets were also tested. The consistency and efficiency of the considered combinations of geometry optimi…
