A Universal Health Care System? Unmet Need for Medical Care Among Regular and Irregular Immigrants in Italy
2017
Italy has a universal health care system that covers, in principle, the whole resident population, irrespective of citizenship and legal status. This study calculates the prevalence of unmet need for medical care among Italian citizens, regular and irregular immigrants and estimates logistic regression models to assess whether differences by citizenship and legal status hold true once adjusting for potential confounders. The analysis is based on two Surveys on Income and Living Conditions of Italian households and households with foreigners. Controlling for various factors, the odds of experiencing unmet need for medical care are 27% higher for regular immigrants than for Italian citizens a…
Lyties dimensija socialiniame versle: Lietuvos socialinių verslininkių patirtys
2017
This paper explores how …
Work-family culture and job satisfaction: does gender and parenting status alter the relationship?
2012
Previous studies on work-family culture have examined its relationship with different employee outcomes (e.g., work-family conflict, job satisfaction, commitment) but neglected one important question; namely, who are most likely to benefit from a supportive work-family culture in terms of positive employee outcomes? The aim of this study was to shed new light on the work-family culture–job satisfaction linkage by examining the moderator effects of gender and parenting status in this relationship. Specifically, we asked whether gender and parenting status would alter the association between work-family culture and job satisfaction. We hypothesized – on the basis of traditional gender roles –…
The Indeterminacy of Precedent : Negotiating the Admissibility of Victim Participant Testimony before the International Criminal Court
2021
Abstract The icc represents a legal laboratory that is still consolidating itself, with multiple unclarities in evidence and procedural law requiring resolution through jurisprudence. Our paper draws on interaction analysis to unpack this process, focusing on the jurisprudential construction of ‘dual status’ victim participant testimony. To elucidate how this evidentiary/procedural element is locally negotiated, we examine an excerpt from the Ongwen hearing transcripts, in which the defense objects against the testimony by a dual status witness called by the victim participants’ legal representative. The analysis traces how the defense counsel’s objection is anchored in a trajectory of prio…
Sociometric status of young adults: Behavioural correlates, and cognitive-motivational antecedents and consequences
2001
A cross-lagged longitudinal study was carried out to investigate whether social reaction styles and loneliness serve as antecedents and consequences of sociometric status among young adults. Behavioural correlates of sociometric status were also studied. Questionnaires measuring sociometric ratings, social reaction styles, loneliness, and group atmosphere were ”lled in by 154 students one week after starting at a new school, then half a year later, and ”nally, one year later. In Measurement 2, the participants’ social behaviour was rated by their classmates. The results indicated that social reaction styles, feelings of loneliness, and satisfaction with the group atmosphere prospectively p…

Transarterial chemoembolization and sorafenib in patients with intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma: time to enter routine clinical practice?
2015
According to the guidelines of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), patients affected from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) can be classified according to the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) staging system. This classification system divides HCC patients in five stages (0, A, B, C and D) on the basis of a number of prognostic and treatment- related variables such as tumor status and liver function. A specific treat ment approach is then proposed for each of the above-mentioned stages. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is recommended as first-line therapy in the treatment of patients with intermediate-stage (BCLC-B class) HCC [1]. The efficacy of this procedure…
Interim Analysis of Overall Survival Per Subgroups in the Prospective, Non-Interventional Insight Study in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma Tre…
2012
ABSTRACT Background The efficacy of Sorafenib in patients (pts) with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been proven in randomized, controlled trials. INSIGHT is a prospective, non-interventional study, conducted in Germany and Austria in pts with HCC. The objectives of this study are the evaluation of safety and efficacy under practice conditions in both hospitals and private practices. Enrollment into INSIGHT is not restricted to a particular tumor stage. Recruitment into the study is ongoing. Methods The second interim analysis (data cut-off 23 FEB 2012) evaluated overall survival and safety data in relevant subgroups. All patients with HCC were observed for the duration of their sorafeni…
Final Analysis of Overall Survival Per Subgroups of Hcc Patients in the Prospective, Non-Interventional Insight Study Treated with Sorafenib
2014
ABSTRACT Aim: INSIGHT is a prospective, non-interventional study, conducted in Germany and Austria in pts with hepatocellular carcinoma HCC. The objectives of this study are the evaluation of safety and efficacy under practice conditions in both hospitals and private practices. Enrollment into INSIGHT is not restricted to a particular tumor stage. Methods: This final analysis evaluated overall survival and safety data incluling relevant subgroups. All patients with HCC were observed for the duration of their sorafenib therapy. In addition to baseline data the performance status, tumor status (clinical and/or radiological), and overall survival time are documented. Documentation of adverse e…
Allium kyrenium (Amaryllidaceae), a new species from Northern Cyprus.
2015
Allium kyrenium, a new species of Allium sect. Codonoprasum, is described and illustrated from northern Cyprus. It is a very circumscribed geophyte growing on the calcareous cliffs of the Kyrenia range. This diploid species, with a somatic chromosome number 2n = 16, shows close morphological relationships with A. stamineum, a species complex distributed in the eastern Mediterranean area. Its morphology, karyology, leaf anatomy, ecology, conservation status and taxonomical relationships with the allied species belonging to the A. stamineum group are examined.
