Spherical nonlinear correlations for global invariant three-dimensional object recognition

2007

We define a nonlinear filtering based on correlations on unit spheres to obtain both rotation- and scale-invariant three-dimensional (3D) object detection. Tridimensionality is expressed in terms of range images. The phase Fourier transform (PhFT) of a range image provides information about the orientations of the 3D object surfaces. When the object is sequentially rotated, the amplitudes of the different PhFTs form a unit radius sphere. On the other hand, a scale change is equivalent to a multiplication of the amplitude of the PhFT by a constant factor. The effect of both rotation and scale changes for 3D objects means a change in the intensity of the unit radius sphere. We define a 3D fil…

MICROBIOLOGICAL QUALITY OF SOUS VIDE COOK-CHILL PRESERVED FOOD AT DIFFERENT SHELF LIFE

2010

The effect of three different periods of storage life (0, 15 and 30 days) on the microbiological quality of several foods elaborated with the sous vide cook–chill procedure in a restaurant was studied. These foods are grouped in three categories: meat (breast chicken, foie gras, pork loin and entrecote of veal), fish (codfish, gilt head sea bream, hake and salmon) and vegetable (broccoli, courgette, potato and carrot). Total plate counts in the products studied were in the range of <1.00–3.74 log10 cfu/g. Coagulase negative staphylococci were isolated in the three categories, Enterococcus spp. were isolated from foie gras and Pantoea agglomerans from salmon and carrot. Staphylococcus aureus…

Kondisi Sanitasi Pada Kapal Kargo Di Wilayah Kerja Kantor Kesehatan Pelabuhan (KKP) Kelas III Manokwari

2021

Ship sanitation and its environment are a mandate from International Health Regulation (IHR)2005 and the regulation of Ministry of Health Republic IndonesiaNo 40 Tahun 2015 that request all the ship in Indonesia territory should have a certificate of ship sanitation. This is due to prevent, protect and control  spreading of diseases.  This study aimed to analyze the sanitation condition of cargo ships in working area of  Harbour Health Office (KKP) type III Manokwari. Research location was done in Manokwari Harbour on September to October 2020.  Method used in this study was descriptive approach and direct observation. Sample was obtained by purposive sampling, that 13 (thirteen) cargo ship…

Modeling and Performance Assessment of the Split-Pi Used as a Storage Converter in All the Possible DC Microgrid Scenarios. Part I: Theoretical Analy…

2021

The integration of an electrical storage system (ESS) into a DC microgrid using a bidirectional DC/DC converter provides substantial benefits but requires careful design. Among such converter topologies, the Split-pi converter presents several merits at the cost of non-isolated operation. However, the few works in the literature on the Split-pi presented only closed-loop control with a single control loop; furthermore, they neglected the reactive components’ parasitic resistances and did not perform any experimental validation. This work aimed at investigating the use of the Split-pi converter as a power interface between an ESS and a DC microgrid. Five typical microgrid scenarios are prese…

A Forecasting Support System Based on Exponential Smoothing

2010

This chapter presents a forecasting support system based on the exponential smoothing scheme to forecast time-series data. Exponential smoothing methods are simple to apply, which facilitates computation and considerably reduces data storage requirements. Consequently, they are widely used as forecasting techniques in inventory systems and business planning. After selecting the most adequate model to replicate patterns of the time series under study, the system provides accurate forecasts which can play decisive roles in organizational planning, budgeting and performance monitoring.

Extension and Tuning of Virtual Synchronous Machine to Avoid Oscillatory Instability in Isolated Power Networks

2020

The risk of oscillatory instability introduced by virtual synchronous machines (VSM) control in isolated power networks is investigated. The considered control is a common scheme widely studied in literature, in several configurations and for different case studies. The impact of the VSM control on the system stability is examined for the existing power network of a Mediterranean island. The VSM control is implemented within the power converters interfacing the energy storage systems (ESS) installed in the network. Simulations and analysis show the occurrence of oscillatory instability in the system, with the ESS-VSM and the synchronous machines of the network progressively swinging against…

Fucus vesiculosus extracts as natural antioxidants for improvement of physicochemical properties and shelf life of pork patties formulated with oleog…

2018

There is limited information in the literature concerning the feasibility of using algal extracts as natural additives for improvement of the quality and shelf-life ofmeat products. Hence, a Fucus vesiculosus extract (FVE) at the concentrations of 250mg kg-1 (FVE-250), 500mg kg-1 (FVE-500) and 1000mg kg-1 (FVE-1000) were added to pork patties with linseed oil oleogel as a fat replacer. RESULTS: Total polyphenol content of FVE was determined to be 20 g phloroglucinol equivalents 100 g-1 extract. Antioxidant values ranged from 37.5 𝛍mol of Trolox equivalents (TE) g-1 (FRAP assay) to 2111 𝛍mol TE g-1 extract (ABTS assay). Regarding oxidation stability, FVE-1000 showed the lowest values of th…

Computer-aided synthesis of complex pump and valve operations

1988

Abstract Process plant operators often have to synthesize sequences of valve and pump operations. On large plants there may be so many possible pipe routes and vessels that it is not practical to provide a priori computer support for every possible operation. The paper describes a program that could form the basis of an operator aid to synthesize appropriate operations from a knowledge of the plant layout and existing pumping operations. The paper concentrates on finding paths through the pipework and on generating a sequence of operations that establishes the path whilst simultaneously satisfying other safety and operating constraints. The paper includes two example problems which were use…
